About twenty-five people were sitting in a large meeting room. They were the chairpersons of Mumbai's top-rated companies, both men and women.
There was a woman of about forty-five years in front of them. Her facial expressions were stern. She looked like a model. She said in a calm tone, "I hope you've prepared your draft well. This is going to be a very big international project. Not everyone gets a chance to be involved in it. That you are involved means you are very special. The results will be announced in the next two days."
As she spoke, everyone looked at each other. Their facial expressions were almost the same. They all seemed to think that they would win. The meeting had top business persons from the designing industry.
After telling the necessary details, the woman left. After she left, the rest of the people present there also left one by one, except for two men.
After everyone left, they looked at each other obliquely. Both men were sitting face-to-face.
"I heard your company suffered a lot of loss this time. I'm surprised that you, a business-minded person like you, could incur losses," one of the men said. He was Mr. Akash Mittal, from the field of dress designing. His brand was famous not only in India but also in other countries.
"Huh...," the man opposite him made a face. "I don't know who is spreading such wrong news to you. Didn't you see my name on the list? I ranked seventh. One rank above you..." Mr. Akash Mittal's counterpart, Mr. Naveen Goenka, replied with full attitude. His company managed fashion events at the local and international levels.
"Well, then, a party is due to celebrate your two ranks higher," Akash Mittal said.
"You still haven't changed, have you? Even in college, you used to throw parties for buying me a new shirt and for being one rank above me, and now it's the same," Naveen said.
"Yes, and you haven't changed either? You were a miser then and now you are still the same. You never threw a party for me, and now I don't even expect it," Akash Mittal said.
"That is not being a miser, but understanding the value of money," Naveen said.
Naveen and Akash got up from their places and hugged each other. After separating, Naveen said, "It's been a long time since we met, even though we live in the same city."
"Yes, you are so stingy that you don't even attend parties. Who knows, maybe you will have to throw a party tomorrow and invite them," Akash said with a laugh.
"That's enough. What's the point of throwing a party? You don't drink, you don't eat non-vegetarian food. What's the point of throwing a party for you? Let's talk about something else. How are things at home? Shagun, my daughter? She must have grown up a lot by now. I hope she takes after you," Naveen asked.
"My daughter is just like me. I raised her differently. I kept her away from our wealth so that she wouldn't get spoiled. Despite being my only child, I gave her money as needed. She never asked me what I was doing with so much money or that it was her right. My Shagun is very cultured. She goes to the temple every day and prays for my good health," Akash told about his daughter. His face had a serene look, and his eyes sparkled with pride as he talked about his daughter.
There was a tranquil silence on the hills of Dehradun. There were temples of various deities on the hills. Among them was a temple, not very large, where a girl sat in front of the Mahadev idol. No one else was present there except her.
She was thin and fair-skinned. She wore a designer suit. Her straight hair was slightly shorter than her waist.
She had both her hands joined in front of the deity, and her eyes were closed as she prayed. Since no one was around, she spoke a bit louder instead of whispering.
"Oh Lord... I come to your temple every day. I offer prasad every day. The pundit told me that observing sixteen Mondays of fast will fulfill all desires. I observed three times sixteen Mondays of fast. Now, please fulfill my desire. I observed the fasts with a full heart. Now people say that I have become thin after fasting. Have mercy on me, at least on my thin body," she prayed.
As she was praying, a middle-aged woman appeared beside her. She heard her entire conversation and placed her hand on the girl's shoulder.
As soon as the woman's hand touched her, the girl opened her eyes wide. The woman consoled her and said, "Don't worry, beta, I'll pray to God on your behalf."
The woman joined her hands in front of the deity and said, "Lord, why don't you fulfill this girl's desire? She has become thin after observing fasts. If she observes more fasts, she won't get a husband. Her appearance isn't very striking either."
Then she looked at the girl and said, "How old are you?"
"Twenty-seven," the girl replied.
"Oh, your marriageable age is almost over," the woman said.
On hearing this, the girl glared at her. She got up to leave, but the woman held her hand and sat her back down.
"I'll arrange a special puja for you... What is your name, anyway?" the woman asked.
"Shagun," the girl replied in a low voice.
"See how lovely the name is. It doesn't suit your appearance, though. But never mind, if you have so much faith in God, you must have a good heart. Oh Mahadev! Find a good groom for Shagun this year and get her married."
"What? Marriage?" Shagun exclaimed, her eyes wide open. She stood up and waved her hands in front of the deity, shouting loudly, "Absolutely not... Absolutely not, Lord... You won't listen to this woman's words. I observed the fasts; listen to mine, not her."
Shagun glared at the woman and said, "What business do you have with my appearance? I've been watching; you're criticizing my appearance. What's lacking in it? Don't disturb me now; I have a lot to ask God."
The woman was surprised by Shagun's words.
The girl smiled on hearing the woman's question. She turned to the deity and said, "I don't want a good husband; I want my father's business, Lord. Do you want me to get married and leave my father's house and business? Absolutely not... I'm his only child. I worked hard to make myself worthy to manage his empire. I've been following his orders without questioning for six years. Don't leave me; I don't want to please you. I did all the pujas that were told to me. But now it's enough. I want my right. When I go home this time, the property should be in my name."
Shagun pointed at the deity and left with full attitude.
"My God, she's pointing fingers at God. What a strange girl. Who does such a thing? She says she doesn't want a good husband but wants her father's money. I thought she was asking for a good husband; she turned out to be... How greedy she is," the woman still looked at Shagun in surprise.
Shagun tossed her hair and walked away unconcerned.
This story is different and funny. Read it all; you'll definitely like it. Is Shagun's experience strange like this? You'll find out in the next chapter. Please like and comment after reading. Follow for the next parts.
Naveen and Akash, old friends, were sitting in the meeting room. The meeting was over, and they were chatting about their kids. Naveen told Akash about his daughter, Shagun.
Akash smiled after hearing about Shagun and said, "As expected, I found her to be quite calm and innocent. It's been many years since I've seen her... Has she joined the office?"
"No, not yet. She's completed her MBA degree. I told her to work in a good company and prove herself, to see if she's capable of handling my empire," Naveen said.
Akash interrupted, "What's this nonsense? Our children have every right to our property. Why does she need to prove herself?"
"I know it's not necessary, but life experiences can't be gained while sitting at home. I sent her out to work for a few years. I'm planning to retire next year, and by then, Shagun will be ready," Naveen explained.
Akash's face lit up with a smile. Naveen noticed and asked, "Why are you smiling?"
"We're friends, and our thinking is similar. I also sent my son, Anubhav, to work in another company to gain experience," Akash replied.
"Really? It's been a while since I've seen Anubhav. He was in high school last time I saw him," Naveen said.
"Yes, after completing high school, I sent him to Bengaluru for further education, and now he's working in a company in Dehradun," Akash shared.
Naveen's eyes widened, "Dehradun? That's where Shagun is too!"
Akash exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? I would have asked Anubhav to take care of Shagun."
Naveen chuckled, "She's my daughter, and she's self-independent. I don't think she needs anyone to take care of her."
Akash laughed, "Maybe Shagun will take care of Anubhav. He's very innocent and simple, with a 'simple living, high thinking' ideology."
The conversation continued, and the two friends were delighted to discuss their children. Despite their kids being away, it felt like they were right there.
As they finished lunch and headed to their respective offices, Naveen said, "If Anubhav comes this time, let me know. I'd love to meet him."
Akash replied, "I'll make sure to tell him. I also want to meet Shagun. Ruchita and Vaani are always in touch, but it's been a while since we've met."
Later that night, at 2:00 AM, a club in Dehradun was bustling with people. The music was loud, and most of the patrons were drunk. Amidst the crowd, a tall and fair-skinned boy, Anubhav Mittal, was dancing with his girlfriend, Prarthana.
Anubhav shouted, "Play some romantic music, man! This song is so boring!"
Prarthana replied, "Come on, let's go. We need to head home."
But Anubhav persuaded her to stay, "No way, sweetheart! We've only been here for three hours. The night is still young. Let's have fun, baby!"
As they danced, Anubhav wrapped his arm around Prarthana's waist. He was clearly intoxicated.
The club's music continued, and Anubhav and Prarthana enjoyed themselves. However, when they went to pay the bill, Anubhav's eyes widened in surprise.
"It can't be this much! I didn't even drink that much," Anubhav exclaimed.
Prarthana looked at him sternly, and Anubhav laughed, "Sorry, I forgot. I'm Anubhav Mittal, the owner of a huge empire. I don't need to worry about the bill."
Anubhav then took the mic and announced, "Everyone here, consider the party on me! I'll pay the bill. Enjoy yourselves!"
The crowd cheered, and Anubhav handed over his card to pay the bill. As they left the club, Prarthana turned to him, "I'm impressed. I had no idea you were so rich. When will you tell your dad about us? And when will you take over the business?"
Anubhav smiled, "Soon, my love. I'll tell him everything when I go to Mumbai next. He'll be happy to know we're in love, and he'll arrange our marriage as soon as I take over the empire."
Prarthana asked, "Do you think he'll agree to our marriage? I've seen in serials and movies that business families often have arranged marriages with high-class families."
Anubhav reassured her, "My family is not like that. I chose to work here to gain experience. My dad was willing to hand over the business to me, but I wanted to learn first."
As they walked, Anubhav's phone rang. It was his father, Akash Mittal, calling to inquire about his sudden expenditure.
The story continues with Shagun and Anubhav, who are different from their parents' expectations. Will their lives go smoothly? Stay tuned to find out.
Experienced was going home with his girlfriend, Prarthana. To make a good impression in front of her, he had paid the bills of all the people who had come to the club.
They were both talking when Experienced's father, Mr. Akash Mittal, called him. Experienced quickly hid his mobile from Prarthana's eyes and saw the number on his phone. He had received about three or four calls from his father.
"Your phone is ringing," Prarthana said as Experienced didn't pick up the call. "It might be an important call."
"Hahahaha," Experienced laughed artificially. "Baby, you're really innocent. You don't know that these credit card people know how much money is in whose account. They call a lot and disturb all day."
Prarthana rolled her eyes and said, "It's 2:30 AM. Who would call you about your credit card at this time? You should pick up the call. There might be an emergency."
"For me, nothing is more important than you right now," Experienced said, hugging Prarthana. Actually, he was trying to hide his facial expressions. He quickly took out his mobile and sent a message to his father: "I'll call you back later. I'm in an emergency."
After sending the message, Experienced breathed a sigh of relief. He thought to himself, "I spent so much money showing off in front of her, but what will I tell my father? I don't want to think about what will happen if he finds out and disowns me. I'm his only son. I'm thinking crazy and unlucky thoughts."
Experienced was lost in his thoughts. He clung to Prarthana for a while. Prarthana pushed him away and said, "Okay, I should go home now."
"Should I drop you off? You might have trouble climbing the stairs from the garden to your room," Experienced asked.
Prarthana made a face and lightly hit his shoulder. "This is all because of you. If you were managing your empire instead of working a job, I wouldn't have any trouble introducing you to my parents."
"Just adjust for a few days, baby. Then we'll live together happily ever after," Experienced said.
Prarthana smiled and agreed. Before leaving, she hugged Experienced and lightly kissed his cheek. Then she took a taxi and left.
After she left, Experienced took a taxi and went back to his flat. When he arrived, it was around 3:30 AM.
The door was locked from the inside, so he kept ringing the doorbell.
"Abey sale, you lazybones... Are you sleeping like a dead person?" Experienced cursed.
The door opened, and his friend Gatik's voice came from inside. Gatik was his friend and roommate. He was a normal-height, thin, and cute-looking boy.
"I'm coming... God, you have a friend like me, and still, you disturb me day and night," Gatik said.
Gatik opened the door for Experienced. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes were still half asleep.
"If you're going to stay out this late next time, just let me know. I won't lock the door. You ruin my sleep too," Gatik complained.
"I'm letting you stay with me for free. Isn't that enough? Can't you do a little more for me? Friends are for what, after all?" Experienced joked.
"Do you call yourself my friend?" Gatik raised an eyebrow. "You're not my friend; you're my enemy... my enemy."
The two friends lay down on the sofa. The flat was a two-bedroom apartment with all the necessary amenities. It belonged to Experienced. He had invited Gatik to stay with him to avoid feeling lonely.
"What a life, friend? Who would have thought I own such a big empire? My life is like a beggar's," Experienced lamented.
"You're right. No one would guess you're the son of Akash Mittal just by looking at you. What's wrong? You seem really troubled," Gatik asked.
Experienced sighed. "I paid the bills for all the people at the club to impress Prarthana. It was around five lakh rupees."
Gatik jumped up. "Five lakh rupees? Your father must have had a heart attack."
"Yeah, he's been calling me repeatedly. I didn't pick up, but I know why he's calling. Please help me, friend. I don't know what to tell him," Experienced said, worried.
Gatik burst out laughing. "Your situation is really bad. I don't get why you're so scared of your father. Everything is yours anyway. You're scared like you have three or four brothers and sisters, and they'll take over the property."
Gatik's words made Experienced take a deep breath. "Three or four, not my brothers... three or four hundred brothers and sisters," he said.
As he spoke, a scene flashed before his eyes. He was around seventeen years old, and he was at an orphanage with his father. There were many children there. The memory made Experienced shiver.
"I've never told anyone about this before. You're really lucky I shared this with you," Experienced said.
Around ten years ago, his father had taken him to an orphanage he had adopted. His father's words still echoed in his mind: "Anny, meet your new siblings. After I'm gone, you'll take care of them. You'll never feel alone again. They'll be with you through all the ups and downs."
Gatik listened intently. "Your father seems like a very kind person. Who adopts an entire orphanage?"
"That's true. When we were there, he told me something. His words still haunt me when I sleep," Experienced said, imitating his father's voice.
"If you fail to take responsibility or can't manage my empire, consider it their responsibility," his father's voice echoed.
Gatik's eyes widened. "So, if you don't meet his expectations, the entire property will go to the orphanage?"
Experienced nodded glumly. "Exactly. That's why I've never disobeyed him since then. He made me study in the college he chose. I worked hard and topped my class. When it was time for a job, he said if I worked for his company, people would treat me like a boss. So, I had to work for another company... I had to live like a normal person, not as Akash Mittal's son."
Experienced's story made Gatik feel sympathetic. "I'm really sorry for you. I'll pray for you."
"And pray for my baby, that my father will agree to our marriage," Experienced added.
The two friends lay down on the sofa again. Soon, Experienced fell asleep, and his father's words still echoed in his dreams.
"I'm telling you this because I know you have a good heart. I want you to promise me you'll take care of them," his father's voice said.
"No, father... I... I'll do my best... I'll take care of my siblings... but please don't disown me," Experienced muttered in his sleep.
Shagun was getting ready to go to the office. She had worn a white loose shirt and a black denim skirt. Her hair was perfectly straight, and diamond studs added a touch of elegance to her look. At that moment, she looked very professional.
She applied light makeup to her face and gazed at herself.
"No one has the right to look this beautiful..." she said, making a strange face. "Ugh, what a cheap dialogue," she added.
As she looked at herself, she remembered the aunt she met at the temple the previous day. "She said I look okay. Is that really true?" Shagun examined herself in the mirror.
"I'm pretty good-looking," she said. Then, she stepped outside. She lived in a rented house, a two-story big house where she had rented the entire upper part. She had decorated it beautifully.
As she came downstairs, she saw the landlord's daughter, Ayesha. Shagun called out to her, "Hey Ayesha, come here for a second."
Ayesha was about 19 years old. When Shagun called her, she came over, looking at her with vacant eyes. Then, she chirped, "Shagun di, your style is unbeatable. Your clothes and everything else are branded. How are you so beautiful? Your makeup is always perfect... Which makeup products do you use? They must be expensive, right?"
"I use branded products. Do you like my style?" Shagun asked.
Ayesha nodded. "You look like an angel."
Shagun said, "I have many extra clothes and makeup items that I haven't used even once. If you want, you can have them."
"Yes, sure. Let's meet up in the evening. Don't you have to go to the office now?" Ayesha replied.
Shagun agreed. After bidding Ayesha farewell, she got into her car and drove off to the office. Ayesha's praise made her feel even more confident.
In a short while, Shagun arrived at the largest jewelry designing company. She got out of the car and walked like the boss, greeting employees she met along the way with a good morning wish.
"Who would have thought that after leaving my luxurious life behind, I would still lead a luxurious life. If a person has the drive to move forward, they can do anything," Shagun said to herself, smiling. She then headed to the boss's cabin.
The boss, Mr. Shubh Chaudhary, smiled and stood up when he saw her. He was a bit older than Shagun, with a well-groomed beard. He was tall and well-built, and his look suited his personality perfectly. He resembled a young businessman who was handsome.
"I was waiting for you," he said, approaching Shagun. "You did amazingly well in the meeting yesterday. I thought I wouldn't attend the meeting, and the project would slip out of our hands. But with you around, that could never happen. You're brilliant, Shagun."
"When you know me well, there's no need to worry," Shagun replied.
Shubh agreed. He moved to hug her, but Shagun took two steps back.
"You're forgetting we're in the office. I don't want anyone to know we're in a relationship; otherwise, people will underestimate my success and talent. They'll think I'm only succeeding because I'm your girlfriend," Shagun said firmly.
"Okay, fine. You worked hard yesterday... now take some rest," Shubh said.
"I need to discuss something else with you. Let's meet for dinner in the evening," Shagun said and left.
She had been dating Shubh Chaudhary, her office boss, for two years. When she joined the office, she assisted the head designer, but with her hard work and drive, she secured the position of head manager. Shagun's professionalism had also won Shubh's heart.
After she left, Shubh sat in his chair and received a call.
"Hello, Mr. Jindal. I was just about to call you. Since this is our first joint venture, let's discuss it together," Shubh said.
"Yes, that's why I called. I want you to involve Miss Goenka in this project. She's a gem, and she proved it in the meeting yesterday. Honestly, I showed interest in this project only because of her. The previous presentation didn't impress me," Mr. Jindal said.
Shubh's mood slightly soured at this, but he maintained his composure. "Yes, of course. Shagun will head this project. Let's meet in a meeting," he replied.
After talking to Mr. Jindal, Shubh thought about Shagun. He didn't like Mr. Jindal praising her, but his love for Shagun prevented him from saying anything.
"She's indeed very talented. Sometimes I fear she might take over my company. But she won't do that. Her father has much more money than I do," Shubh thought, and his tension vanished as he remembered Shagun's father, Mr. Naveen Goenka.
In Mumbai, at Mittal Mansion, Akash Mittal paced back and forth, tense. His wife, Vani, approached him.
"I see you're worried. Is everything okay?" she asked, handing him a cup of tea.
"I don't know if everything is okay. You know Anoop spent 500,000 rupees at a club last night. He's never spent that much before. If it were any other place, I might consider it, but a club...," Akash said.
Vani interrupted him. "You're not thinking too much, are you? Our son is grown. Let him live his life. You've already kept him away from us for so long. When he comes, it's for just a day or two. Stop being so strict and give him his empire," she said.
"I want to, but I need to make sure he's responsible. I want to talk to him, but he's not picking up my calls," Akash replied.
"If he knows you'll question him, why would he pick up?" Vani said and left.
Akash called Anoop again. This time, Anoop picked up.
"Hello, Anoop. Are you okay?" Akash asked.
"Yes, Papa. I'm fine. I'm sorry I didn't pick up your call last night. I couldn't explain... I was going to call you," Anoop said, his voice soft and polite.
Akash noticed Gatik, who was sitting next to Anoop, trying to stifle a laugh. Anoop signaled him to be quiet.
"Is everything okay there? Are you in any trouble?" Akash asked indirectly.
Anoop understood his concern. "No, Papa. Everything's not okay. You must have found out that I spent 500,000 rupees at the club last night. Don't worry; I'll return it from my salary," he said.
"No, no, it's not necessary. I was just worried that something might have happened to you. You can spend your money wherever you want; it's yours," Akash replied.
"I know, but I won't spend it in the wrong place. I have to tell you - Gatik was forced to drink and gamble at the club. He lost money, and they beat him because he didn't have any. I know it's wrong, but he's my friend, and he has no one. So, I paid his debt," Anoop explained, hitting Gatik's shoulder, making him cry out in pain.
"Take care of his treatment and file a police report against those who did this. If you need me, let me know," Akash said.
"No, Papa. I'll handle it. I don't want you involved in this," Anoop replied and hung up.
After talking to Akash, Anoop let out a sigh of relief.
"You acted like a scared rabbit in front of my dad and a lion in front of me," Gatik said, smiling.
"I'll always be a lion; I just need my jungle," Anoop replied and headed to his room to get ready for office.
Anand got ready and reached the office. He worked as a head designer at a designing company in Dehradun, which was a branch of his father's company. No one there knew his real identity.
Anand got ready and reached the office looking quite stylish. He wore branded shoes and clothes, and the watch on his hand was quite expensive. He often wore expensive clothes to the office.
As soon as he entered the office, two girl employees started whispering to each other.
One of them said, "Look at him, he's so well-dressed, like he's the owner of the company. Our boss doesn't even wear clothes this expensive, and he's always showing off."
The other girl replied with a sly smile, "You're so naive. Do you think what he's wearing is really branded? No way, you can find copies of branded clothes at many places. They're so similar that you can't tell the difference."
The first girl still didn't seem convinced. "Really? I don't know..."
The second girl said, "If you don't believe me, come with me to the mall on Sunday and see for yourself. You'll realize that what he's wearing isn't really branded. And have you ever thought about why he takes a taxi to the office if he's really that rich?"
The first girl nodded, "Yeah, that's true. I thought he was the head designer, so he must design his own clothes, but I've only seen clothes like these on models and stars. Whoever he is, he's really cute."
Anand walked past them with an attitude, and they stopped talking. He seemed to ignore their conversation.
One of the girls said, "Wow, his perfume smells amazing. It must be a branded one..."
The other girl shook her head, and they both went back to work. Anand went to his floor.
As soon as he arrived, his assistant, Prarthana, his girlfriend, greeted him. Anand's face lit up when he saw her.
"You're the only one in the office who makes me want to work here. I could spend my whole life as the head designer just for you," he said, trying to hug her, but she stepped back.
"We're in the office, Anand. We should behave. And did you hear that your dad's name has moved up to number two on the list of the top 10 richest businessmen?"
Anand exclaimed, "Really? That means I'm getting even richer." He sat down in his chair.
Prarthana sat down in front of him and asked, "Have you talked to him? When will he hand over the reins to you?"
Anand replied, "I don't know much about that. But my mom's birthday is coming up, and I'll be going home. Maybe he'll talk to me about it then."
Prarthana smiled and said, "I've told you before not to wear such expensive clothes to the office. People will get suspicious."
Anand said with a pout, "No one will suspect anything. There are some stupid people here who think I bought these clothes from a cheap street shop that sells brand copies."
Prarthana laughed, and Anand continued, "Let them say what they want. I'll show them who I really am when the time comes."
Prarthana stood up and put a pile of files in front of him. "This is from the main branch. They've sent rejected designs. I think your dad is testing you. He wants you to turn these designs into something valuable. It's like an exam, and you need to pass it."
Anand smiled and said, "I'll pass any test for you." He took Prarthana's hand and kissed it lightly.
Anand focused on his work, with Prarthana helping him. They were close, and their relationship was strong.
At 8 pm, Shagun was having dinner at a five-star hotel with Shubh and Mr. Jindal. It was a professional meeting.
Shubh said, "It would be a pleasure to work with you, Mr. Jindal."
Mr. Jindal looked at Shagun and said, "Miss Goenka is very talented. She'll take your business far."
Shagun was silent, eating her food and looking angry. Shubh and Mr. Jindal discussed the project.
After dinner, Mr. Jindal left, and Shubh accompanied him outside.
Shagun thought to herself, "I wanted to talk to him about meeting my dad, but he's too busy with his own work."
When Shubh came back, he pretended to be happy and sat down next to Shagun. He scolded her in a stern tone, "What was that, Shagun? You didn't say a word to Mr. Jindal."
Shagun was angry and said, "That's what I wanted to ask you, Shubh. You turned our personal meeting into a professional one. You know we can't talk at the office, so I suggested dinner, and you... you invited Mr. Jindal."
Shubh replied, "He's very impressed with you. I don't want to lose this deal."
Shagun looked at him angrily and said, "You're using me for a simple deal?"
Shubh tried to calm her down, "It's not like that. I'd give up a hundred deals like this for you."
Shagun said suddenly, "Then give them up."
Shubh was taken aback. "Are you joking?"
Shagun said seriously, "No, I'm not joking. I'm dead serious. I'll tell you that this deal isn't as big as you're making it out to be. The company is running at a loss. You need it, so there's no need to butter him up."
Shubh replied, "I know the company is struggling, but Mr. Jindal has good connections, and we can benefit from them."
Shagun said, "So you won't listen? You've said you'd give up any deal for me. As a businessperson, I understand how important deals are. I'm not asking you to give up any ordinary deal. I just don't want you to do this deal with Mr. Jindal. Think about what you want to do. Do you want to upset me by making this deal... or... you're smart enough to decide."
Shagun left, leaving the bill on the table. She paid it and walked out.
Outside, a white car was parked. Mr. Jindal was sitting in it, watching Shubh and Shagun.
He thought to himself, "If I'm right, that girl is not anyone else but the daughter of Naveen Goenka, the owner of the Goenka Empire. If I'm right, she could be very useful to me."
Two people, Shagun's mom and dad, were sitting in the lawn of their big sea-side bungalow in Mumbai, sipping their morning tea and talking.
"You've made a decision about Shagun, I need to talk about it. So far, I haven't interfered with whatever you've thought of for her. But now we need to talk about her..." Ruchna said.
"Yes, you know I haven't taken any wrong decision for her. My decision to keep her with me was absolutely right," Navin replied.
"And despite doing all this, she couldn't manage to handle such a big empire, then?" Ruchna asked with a tinge of disappointment.
"I'm completely sure she is capable of handling this empire. If she still didn't live up to our expectations, we need to find a boy who can manage our empire," Navin said.
Ruchna agreed with him. "After marriage, Shagun can handle my event management company if she wants. This way, she won't feel like we've underestimated her."
Ruchna, Shagun's mom, ran an event management company. It wasn't a very big company and only handled events in and around Mumbai.
"Yes, your point is right. Deep down, I want Shagun to be capable enough to handle our empire. As for marriage, we need to find a good boy and get her married," Navin Goenka said.
"For that, we need to prepare her too. She hasn't come home for 3 years. I don't know what kind of life she's leading. She doesn't even talk to me properly on the phone, let alone video calls. I haven't even seen her in person. She's refused to come to us... I hope she's not in any bad company," Ruchna said.
Ruchna's words were creating fear in Navin's mind as well. "I'll talk to her today and ask her to come home," he said with a worried expression.
Navin and Ruchna were like most Indian parents who wanted their daughter to excel but also prioritized her marriage.
Shagun knew that if she couldn't prove herself capable of handling her father's business, she'd have to marry someone who could manage it for her. So, she focused on making herself worthy.
In South Mumbai, there was a big villa that belonged to Anubhav. His family was a joint family with his parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandmother.
They were all having breakfast at the dining table.
"It's been so many years, Ashu. You should ask Anu to come home. The poor boy must be living in terrible conditions alone," Anubhav's grandmother, Suman, said.
His mother, Vanita, chimed in. "I'm tired of telling him, mom. Sometimes I feel like his father is not his father but an enemy from a past life, taking revenge in this life."
The conversation changed when Anubhav's father, Akash Mittal, asked his younger brother, Prakash, about his property dealing business.
At the table, discussions favored Anubhav coming home. His sister, Khushi, 16, said, "Either you call bhaiya home or send me to a boarding school in Dehradun. I get to meet him that way."
Everyone, including Anubhav's cousin, Anshika, 23, supported the idea. Anshika worked at her uncle's company.
"Okay, enough discussion. You all want Anu back home... He came last year on Vanita's birthday, he'll come this year too," Akash said.
Vanita added, "He should come home. When will you keep him away? He's grown up now."
His grandmother added, "And marriageable too... He'll turn 27 this year. He should take responsibility and be bound by duties so he doesn't take the wrong path. I say marry him off to a good girl."
Anshika rolled her eyes. "This again. Grandma's always after my marriage."
Shagun and Anubhav's families were thinking of their marriages, while the two were preparing to manage their respective businesses.
It was 9 PM. Shagun was having dinner with Shubh at a hotel in Dehradun. Nearby, Anubhav was having dinner with Prarthna.
The previous day, Shagun and Shubh had an argument, and he brought her here to console her. Anubhav and Prarthna had a busy day at the office and came to relax.
"I'm very happy today. My dad gave me 10 days off from the office," Anubhav said, checking his call history on his phone.
"Only 10 days? Still, your dad wants you to come home for just 10 days. That means he still doesn't want to give you the empire," Prarthna replied.
Anubhav continued. "No, no, it's not like that. Before this, dad never let me stay for so long. I have 10 whole days this time. I'll make my family realize that dad should give me my position. I'll pressurize him, and he'll make me the CEO."
Prarthna was happy with Anubhav's plan.
At a nearby table, Shagun and Shubh were eating silently. Shagun didn't like talking while eating.
Suddenly, Shagun said, "My dad called and asked me to come home next month."
Shubh asked, "Will he make you the CEO of Goenka Empire? If so, I can talk to him about marriage."
Shagun glared at him. "I told you before we started dating that we won't get married. I love my life, freedom, and empire, and I won't compromise for anyone. If you want to marry, let's break up."
Shubh was left speechless.
Shagun stormed out, leaving Shubh behind.
Anubhav and Prarthna were having a good time.
Shubh wondered how to convince Shagun that he loved her and wasn't after her empire.
Shagun walked out angrily and accidentally knocked over a glass of water on Anubhav's table.
Anubhav stood up and shouted, "Hey, rude girl... do you have any manners? What have you done?"
Shagun didn't look back and walked away. Anubhav left his food and followed her.
Shagun stormed out of the restaurant in a huff after a heated argument. Unintentionally, she knocked over a glass of water from Anvesh's table on her way out. This enraged Anvesh, who chased after her, fuming.
"Not even a sorry... doesn't know who I am... acting like the queen of the world... queen my foot... doesn't know who I am." Anvesh muttered angrily as he followed her.
Prarthna also went after him to calm him down. "Wait, Anvesh... it must have happened unintentionally."
By the time Anvesh stepped outside, Shagun had already sped away in her car. He shouted after her,
"Foolish girl... you'll meet me again... I'll show you what Anvesh Mittal is."
Prarthna approached him and tried to calm him down. "It's okay... she probably didn't mean to."
"It was intentional. I saw her... and why are you taking her side? Because of her, our dinner and table got ruined." Anvesh said in anger.
"She's gone. What's the point of being angry now? Let's go back inside; I'm starving." Prarthna held his hand and led him back inside.
As they entered, Shubh was standing by their table, waiting for them.
"Who are you now?" Anvesh asked curtly.
"Ah, you're here?" Prarthna's reaction made it clear she knew Shubh. "This is Mr. Shubh Chaudhary... his jewelry house, Swarnam, is quite famous here."
"So, what do I do?" Anvesh was still fuming and spoke harshly.
"I understand your anger. Anyone's mood can be spoiled in such a situation, especially when a boy comes on a date with his girlfriend. I'm really sorry that my girlfriend ruined your table. I saw her leave in a huff. She's not a bad person; she just loses control when angry." Shubh apologized on Shagun's behalf.
"So, you're here to cover up for your girlfriend's actions. She intentionally spilled water on our table and didn't even apologize. When I followed her, she didn't even look back. What you're doing, she should have done. Just a simple 'sorry' would have sufficed. But she was too proud to notice anything." Anvesh complained like a child.
Shubh shrugged and said, "Yes, she's like that. Whenever we go out, something happens, and she gets angry... you've seen what she did."
"No worries, Mr. Chaudhary. It happens. We can book another table. You don't have to feel sorry; it's not your fault." Prarthna said.
Shubh agreed and was about to leave when he turned back and said, "Whatever my girlfriend did can't be changed. You're not accepting my apology, but I want today's dinner to be on me. We had also booked this table, and now it's going to waste. Why don't you two have dinner in our place?"
"No, no, Mr. Chaudhary, that's not necessary. We can book another table." Prarthna declined formally.
"Please, I insist. If you don't, I'll feel bad." Shubh gestured towards his table.
He had specially decorated the table for Shagun, but she left, and everything went to waste.
After Shubh's insistence, Anvesh and Prarthna agreed to have dinner in their place. As they sat at Shubh's table,
"I met Mr. Chaudhary at a designing seminar... he achieved this success at such a young age."
Anvesh interrupted, "He's not the only one who achieved success at a young age. Look, my name will also be on that list."
"True, but he's a good person, and his girlfriend... she seemed really entitled."
"Yes, he seems good, and I'm actually feeling pity for him; he'll have to deal with her for the rest of his life. The way he was apologizing and covering up for her actions, it's clear he loves her a lot. Poor guy... good person and that entitled girl..." Anvesh said.
"Don't worry; you're not marrying that girl. As for those two, whatever happens, we'll see. You worry about me... and I'm not like her." Prarthna cleverly changed the subject.
As they ate, Anvesh had already forgotten about Shagun. This was their first and brief encounter, where they hadn't even seen each other's faces.

Shagun was walking back to her house after having an argument at the restaurant. She had left in a huff, but as she drove her car, her mood was completely fresh. She had put on some music and was humming along.
"Adabadi fanki, karte hain nautanki
Yeh chori badi drama queen hai
Hain ho, badi-badi aankhein hain aansoo ki tanki
Yeh chori badi drama queen hai"
As she sang along, Shagun burst out laughing. "Uff, how hard it is to pretend to be tough. The food was so delicious... I couldn't even eat it properly. I'll order food from this restaurant again and watch a good series on Netflix while eating. Ah, that'll be so much fun." A little while ago, Shagun was thinking about what had happened at the restaurant.
"Sorry, Shubh baby, I also want to marry you, but I can't do it right now. If my dad finds out that I have such a capable boyfriend, he'll give my entire earnings to you. First, I'll take care of everything... and then I'll get married someday. What's the hurry? Are you going anywhere or am I?" A little while later, Shagun arrived home. Her landlord's daughter, Ayesha, was waiting for her. As soon as she saw Ayesha, Shagun checked herself in the car's rearview mirror.
"Oh... I don't look tired at all. If I go up like this, it'll ruin my mood." Shagun took out a makeup remover from her purse and removed her makeup. Before getting out, she also tousled her hair. Shagun came out with a gloomy face. Ayesha ran to her as soon as she saw her. "Shagun didi, you look so tired."
"Yes, I had a lot of work at the office today. I didn't get to eat anything all day. I think I'll have to go to bed hungry tonight... I'm not in the mood to cook." Shagun said in a downtrodden voice. "Okay, then I'll come to your place on Sunday," Ayesha replied. After hearing that Ayesha would come over later, Shagun immediately hugged her. "Aww... you're so sweet. You're the only one who takes care of me... who really cares about me." Ayesha separated from her and said, "You stay here. My mom made biryani today. I'll bring it to you." "You... you're like an angel sent from heaven... you're such an angel." Shagun said with a choked voice. After thanking Ayesha, she went inside and Ayesha brought a large bowl of biryani for Shagun. Shagun went upstairs with her food.
After freshening up, she was watching TV and enjoying her food. "Uff... all that's missing in my life is my dad's empire... everything else is first class." Shagun had fallen asleep watching TV. She was a lively girl who pretended to be tough and professional in front of everyone.
The next morning, Anand woke up to an invitation card on his email from his company where his dad had thrown a success party.
As he saw it, he said, "What's the point of sending this invitation card if I'm not going to attend?" Before Anand could even get out of bed, his dad called him. "Pranam papa..." he said as soon as he picked up the phone. "Khush raho beta. My whole family is on the call. The phone is on speaker. Everyone wants to talk to you. Wait, I'll make a video call." As soon as Mr. Akash said that, Anand immediately said, "No papa, not now... I have to go to the office. Sir asked me to come early today. I don't want to be late." "Yes, I forgot that you have to go to the office. There are still half an hour left before your office time..." Mr. Akash replied. Their conversation was overheard by his grandmother, Mrs. Suman. She said, "What have you done to the child? He's working in his own company. Nowadays, children don't even wake up on time." "Yes, grandmother. I have to be on time for office. How are you?" Anand asked. "Chachu... chachi... mom, are you all there too? Anshi... Khushi, how are you both?" He asked about everyone's well-being at once.
"We're all fine, brother. We just miss you," Khushi chirped. "No need to come next month, beta. Your dad is throwing a huge success party. What's the point of the party if their son isn't there?" Vani expressed her anger. "Yes, yes, it's fine. I understand what you all are saying. That's why I called Anand. I'll ask the manager to call your boss so he can give you a 2-day leave. You come home by tonight. The party is tomorrow." Due to everyone's insistence, Mr. Akash had to give in. Anand was also happy to go there. "If you're saying so, I'll come. I had a lot of work, but it's okay." "Sometimes, you should take a break from work, beta. We'll all wait for you to arrive," Mr. Prakash said. "Yes, chachu, definitely." After talking to them, Anand hung up. "Thank god papa didn't make a video call, or they would've seen my condition. But I made a good excuse... just half an hour... what's half an hour to go to the office?" As soon as Anand realized the time, he quickly got up from bed.
The previous night's alcohol consumption still gave him a hangover. His hair was disheveled. He quickly showered and began to get ready. "Gatik, you little brat... I'm not keeping you here for free. You can't even make a hard coffee for me... my head still hurts." Anand exclaimed as he styled his hair. "It seems like you kept me here just to do your household chores," Gatik said, holding a coffee mug and a tray of sandwiches. "I overheard your conversation with your dad and your family. What if they had video-called you? Your entire truth would've been revealed to everyone today." "Don't worry about that. I have plenty of excuses," Anand said, picking up a sandwich and eating it.
"Yes, I know that. By the way, what excuse will you give this time?" Gatik asked. Anand smiled and said, "The idea is good. It'll come in handy next time." As he sipped his coffee, Anand left for office. Gatik shouted after him, "You're in such a mess that even the security guard position wouldn't be available for you in your own company." "Don't say such an unlucky thing in the morning... if I get my entire empire, I'll definitely give you a security guard's job in my office. You remember that," Anand joked as he left. He was quite happy that his dad had invited him.
Do review the story part.
After receiving a call from his father, Anubhav had already arrived at the office. Thanks to his company manager, he easily got a leave. Anubhav reached his cabin, but instead of Prarthana, his boss, Mr. Khetan, was sitting there.
"Good morning..." Anubhav's incomplete greeting trailed off as he saw Mr. Khetan. He felt that Prarthana would usually be there. "Good morning, sir. If there was any work, you could have called me to the office."
"I want to know from you what is the relationship between you and the head company's manager? You needed a leave, and you could have put in a request yourself... They called on your behalf." Mr. Khetan asked, unfamiliar with Anubhav's identity.
"Nothing, sir... It's just his favor that I'm working here. He might have some work. That's why he got me a leave." Anubhav replied with a smile.
"Alright. If he asks for a report, tell him everything is fine here. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been so strict with you if you had told me you have a relation with him." Mr. Khetan spoke to Anubhav with a more lenient tone than usual. He stood up from his chair and left.
As soon as he left, Anubhav sat in his chair in his own style. His legs were on the table in front of him, and he was thinking with his fingers intertwined.
"Not just the manager, but many people from your head company have a close relationship with me, Mr. Khetan. When I get my empire, the first thing I'll do is fire you. You've tortured me so much..." Anubhav's thoughts drifted back to the old days when he first came to the office.
Anubhav was standing in Mr. Khetan's office, watching him look at the designs he had created. Mr. Khetan scowled and said in a harsh tone, "What are these clown-like clothes? No one wears clothes like these these days. They make a gentleman look like a vagabond."
"But, sir, this is the latest trend. It seems you don't have a social media account. Kids these days make videos wearing clothes like these." Anubhav spoke with confidence.
"Huh..." Mr. Khetan scowled again. "Yes, I've seen them... They look like a bunch of idiots. Create some decent designs, and maybe you'll get a job here."
Anubhav tried to explain, but Mr. Khetan didn't let him finish. "Do as I say. I'm the boss, not you."
Anubhav left, and later, he made around 15-20 different designs. Mr. Khetan didn't like his work, but due to the recommendation, he couldn't say anything.
Recalling those times, Anubhav's face filled with anger. "Despite my good designs, he rejected them repeatedly... Whenever he got a chance, he troubled me. No... I won't fire him from the job; I'll take my revenge by troubling him more."
Anubhav was lost in thought when Prarthana arrived. "Is this what I'm hearing? You took a leave? Why didn’t you tell me about it?"
As soon as she entered, she started asking questions. Anubhav stood up from his chair and approached her. He held her face with both hands and said affectionately, "The reason I'll tell you will make you happy. You know my dad called me home. Our company's shares have increased, and we're at a peak. So, it's a success party, and he called me."
Prarthana's face lit up with happiness. She hugged Anubhav and asked, "Is it really so? Can I also come with you?"
Anubhav immediately pulled away and said, "No, you can't come with me. My family doesn't know about you, and I don't know how they'll react when they find out about our relationship."
Prarthana spoke, "You have to tell them about us someday. This is the right time."
Anubhav explained his constraints to Prarthana.
Their goal was the same: for Anubhav to get his empire. Prarthana didn't insist further and agreed.
"Alright, but don't forget about me when you're there," she said.
Anubhav assured her, "It won't happen, baby... I'm not going forever. It's just for three days."
Anubhav was excited to go home, and Prarthana wished for his empire to be his soon so they could be together.
Despite their argument the previous night, Shagun behaved normally at the office. She had a meeting with Shubh and other team members.
During the meeting, Shubh's attention was on Shagun, who seemed unaffected by their argument.
Shubh thought, "She's doing everything well. She came to get the file from me this morning, which means she's forgotten about last night. I'll try to convince her for marriage again."
Shagun noticed Shubh and thought, "I know what's on your mind. For now, don't think I'll agree to marry you."
After the meeting, Shubh praised Shagun's presentation.
Shagun returned to her cabin, making her makeup look sharp.
She received a call from her father, Mr. Naveen Goyanka. He and his wife, Rucha Goyanka, were at home.
Shagun avoided video calls, fearing it might create a wrong impression.
Her parents expressed their concerns, suspecting she might be involved in something wrong.
Shagun assured them she was working hard and wouldn't do anything to disappoint them.
Moved by her words, Mr. and Mrs. Goyanka changed their plans.
Shagun spoke with her parents, and they decided to support her.
Shagun was relieved and happy about her parents' support.
Her conversation with her parents ended, and she felt confident about her future.
It was around nine at night. Mr. Akash Mittal was sitting with his wife, Vani Mittal, at the Goenka House. Akash had personally come to invite them to the party.
There were only a few people at home, apart from Naveen and Ruchna. They were very happy to see them.
"After so many years, you finally came to my house," Naveen said, hugging him.
"Friends are invited to their homes. Thanks to Ruchna Bhabi, our parties are always grand," Akash replied with a smile. Ruchna's team was managing all the party arrangements.
Ruchna smiled in response. Vani and Ruchna hugged each other. "Yes, without Ruchna, my parties are incomplete. This time, there will be no excuses; you have to come to the party," Vani said.
"Why not, Bhabi Ji? It's been a long time since I met Mom. Is everyone at home okay?" Naveen asked.
Akash nodded. They were sitting in the living room of Naveen's house. The staff was attending to them. The house was quiet due to the few people present.
Akash observed the silence and said, "Don't you feel a bit lonely at home? I sent Anubhav away because there are other children at home, but Shagun is your only daughter. You shouldn't have sent her away."
"She wanted to study outside. You know both Vani and I are busy with work. It's just a matter of a few days, and Shagun will be back," Naveen replied.
Vani added, "But daughters are always considered 'paraya dhan' (someone else's wealth). After marriage, Shagun will leave, and the silence will return."
Vani's comment made Naveen and Ruchna exchange a glance. They had discussed Shagun's future with her earlier.
Ruchna mentioned, "I also want Shagun to get married, but she wants to manage Naveen's business."
"I promised her that it would be as she wishes. If she doesn't want to get married, it's okay with us," Naveen said.
Akash asked, "What about Shagun's return? When will she come back?"
Vani replied, "I don't even know her social media account. Nowadays, children prefer online conversations."
Naveen added, "Shagun doesn't use social media. She's very dedicated to her work."
Akash exclaimed, "In this case, our children are similar. Anubhav also doesn't use social media."
Vani said, "Yes, Shagun and Anubhav are similar. They're both focused on their work and don't use social media."
Ruchna proudly mentioned, "Shagun says that if you spend time on social media, you could instead spend it in a temple, which brings more peace."
Vani appreciated, "That's wonderful. She's cultured even from a distance."
After having tea and snacks, Akash and Vani left.
In their car, Vani mentioned, "I saw Shagun as a child; she was very sweet. Why not consider her for Anubhav?"
Akash interrupted, "You immediately jumped to that. Naveen said Shagun doesn't want to get married; she wants to manage his business."
Vani suggested, "That could work. They could manage their businesses together and support each other."
Akash considered her points. Vani continued, "Nowadays, girls want to be self-dependent. What's wrong with that? I wish I had continued working instead of becoming a homemaker."
Akash agreed to consider Vani's ideas.
As they reached their home, a white car arrived. It was Anubhav.
Vani was excited to see her son. Anubhav was dressed simply, unlike his usual stylish attire in Dehradun.
Vani hugged him warmly. "I missed you so much, beta."
Anubhav also missed his mother. He hugged her back and touched her feet. Akash did the same.
Akash asked, "Did you face any difficulties while staying away?"
Anubhav replied, "It was tough, but I enjoyed my life. I realized that to succeed, one must face challenges."
Akash and Vani smiled, proud of Anubhav's maturity.
As they entered the house, family members welcomed Anubhav.
Vani asked Akash, "Do you have any photos of Shagun that I can show Anubhav?"
Akash teased, "You're always determined to get what you want. Let's not rush into this; we haven't even discussed it with Naveen."
Vani assured, "I'll talk to Ruchna at the party. Please remind Naveen that we're okay with Shagun's career."
Akash agreed. Vani was confident about convincing Anubhav.
She looked at Anubhav, who seemed simple but liked it. "I just need to give him a makeover. He's become too simple living away from luxury."
Akash smiled, and Vani's plan was set in motion.
Anand had returned to his home in Mumbai. After dinner, he was in his room. It was 1:00 AM, but he couldn't sleep. He was tossing and turning on the bed.
Anand was quite troubled because of his inability to sleep. He got up and turned on the lamp.
"I'm the only one who can't sleep in their own home. The food was good, but I should have had wine to digest it. A couple of pegs would have helped me sleep. Something's wrong, Anand... or I'll have to spend the whole night tossing and turning," Anand thought to himself. He got out of bed and slowly headed outside.
Since it was late at night, everyone had fallen asleep, and the house was dark. Anand turned on the flashlight on his phone and walked quietly towards the outside.
As he was walking down the stairs to the hall, he heard a voice behind him, "The liquor you asked for is in the storage room's freezer."
The voice startled Anand. He turned around and shone his phone's light on the person. It was Anshika.
"Can't sleep without drinking?" Anshika asked with a smile.
Anand laughed awkwardly. "Your point is right. I couldn't sleep, but I'm not drinking. I'm going for a walk in the garden. For your information, I've quit drinking."
"Okay... stop it. Everyone's asleep. You're not tired of drama, are you, Anu?" Anshika teased.
"I'm not doing any drama," Anand claimed innocently.
"I wish you were as innocent as you look. You live outside, alone... you have a great chance to have fun. I just can't believe you lead such a simple life. You deactivated your social media accounts so that no one could find you, didn't you?" Anshika said.
"You think too much. I used to be a bit wild when I lived here and enjoyed being with friends. But trust me, my only friend now is my car, and I lead a simple life," Anand clarified.
"For once, I can believe that a dog's tail can become straight after surgery, but not you... you're doing all this so that your grandfather will pass on the empire to you soon, aren't you?" Anshika said, being clever despite being younger.
Anand let out a deep sigh. "This is mine, so why do I need to pretend?"
"That's what I don't understand. What's going on in your mind?" Anshika asked.
"You're not thinking too much, are you, Anshi? Being outside has made me realize my responsibilities, and I genuinely want to become a worthy person. Now, step aside and let me go," Anand dodged the question and tried to leave.
On a whim, he turned back to Anshika and asked, "By the way, what are you doing out here so late? Does your boyfriend come to meet you on the balcony?"
Anshika's eyes widened. "No, nothing like that. I couldn't sleep either. I was also going for a walk in the garden."
Both of them burst into fake laughter.
Suddenly, they both said in unison, "Please don't tell anyone."
Anand shrugged at her and asked, "Can I really get beer from the storage room?"
"Yes, but you have to keep watch. My friend will be here in five minutes. Just make sure no one wakes up," Anshika replied.
Anand agreed and pretended to zip his lips shut, signaling that he wouldn't say anything.
As Anshika left, Anand started dancing. "The flowers, the stars, everyone's saying... there's my sister among a thousand. I never thought it would work in my favor."
Anand stood outside the hall, keeping watch. Anshika walked quickly towards the garden. A tall, handsome boy with a fair complexion was standing in front of her.
As soon as she saw him, Anshika hugged him. He stroked her back and asked, "Did anyone see us?"
Anshika moved away and said, "Anand saw us, but don't worry about him. I'll handle him. Now, tell me why you called me here so late. Is everything okay?"
The boy smiled. "Everything's great. I got a great job offer from London. I thought I'd tell you in person rather than waiting till morning."
Anshika's eyes lit up. "Now your family will agree, won't they?"
The boy and Anshika talked some more. Meanwhile, Anand came outside and stood there, observing them.
Anshika noticed him and scolded, "I told you to keep watch, but you're not listening. If someone sees us, there'll be a huge mess."
Anand assured her that nothing would happen and sent her off to get beer cans. As she left, he talked to the boy.
The boy extended his hand. "Nice to meet you."
Anand shook his hand and warned, "Be careful; Anshika is a very jealous girl. If you hurt her, I'll mess up your pretty face."
Anshika returned with beer cans and scolded Anand. "You useless fellow... now leave."
Anand left, and the boy entered the house. As he was leaving, the security guard appeared and shouted, "Who's there? Is there a thief? Come out immediately."
The guard's voice startled them. Anshika hit Anand and said, "I told you to keep watch."
Anand ran towards the guard and said, "Nothing, uncle. I couldn't sleep. You go back; everything's fine."
The guard left, and Anand escorted the boy out.
After the boy left, Anand and Anshika went back inside. Anshika said, "Poor Saransh... he came to share his happiness with me, but I couldn't even talk to him because of you. I feel like telling everyone about your mischief."
Anand pouted. "If you want, you can help me. Tell our family to give me responsibilities soon."
Anshika didn't respond and left. Anand went back to his room, where he drank beer cans.
In Dehradun, Shagun's landlord had gone to a wedding, leaving her alone. She called Shubh over, and they watched movies late into the night.
As the movie ended, Shubh tried to kiss Shagun, but she pushed him away.
"Don't even think about it," she said.
Shubh was taken aback. "What's wrong? You want to marry me, but we can't live together?"
Shagun was firm. "Not until I take over the business. I don't want to discuss it. Just leave."
Shubh didn't want to leave her alone, so he sat on the sofa in the living room. Shagun went to her room and locked the door.
Shubh thought, "She'll understand one day that I genuinely love her. I'm not a gold-digger; I tolerate her tantrums because I love her."
Despite their arguments, they cared for each other.
The next morning, Shagun woke up to the smell of food being cooked at home. She quickly got out of bed and went outside, where Shubh was preparing breakfast for her. Despite what had happened the night before, Shubh was making breakfast for her with dedication, as if trying to make up for something.
"You don't have to do all this. It makes me feel guilty that I'm not treating you well," Shagun said, looking down.
"Come on, it's not a big deal. You don't have to feel embarrassed. If you want to do something, change your behavior. Let's go, freshen up and come back. The breakfast will be ready by then," Shubh said with a smile, his eyes filled with love for Shagun.
Shagun didn't say anything and quickly went to him, hugging him. "I'm so sorry... I also want us to give our relationship a name."
"But you also want your dad to give you his business. What's wrong with you, Shagun? If he doesn't do it, what's the problem? What will happen if he gives the business to your husband instead of you? You won't be separate from me, your husband," Shubh said.
Shagun's pain poured out as she spoke. "You don't understand what it's like to struggle. I've had to work hard to prove myself. I've been playing business games since childhood, while other girls played with dolls. My dream was to take over my father's work, but it's not easy being a girl. I have to struggle because I'm a girl. When I get married and move to another house, things will change. You won't understand what it's like to fight all this."
Shubh didn't want another argument, so he hugged Shagun lightly and said, "It will be as you want."
Shagun smiled slightly, but her eyes were wet. She went inside to freshen up.
Meanwhile, Anubhav was in his room, looking at the dress his mother, Vani, had sent for him. He wasn't excited about wearing it.
"Mom could only find this black suit for me to wear? I'll look like a caveman. I wish I could wear the clothes I designed, but I have to wear this to be a good son. Mom has designed the same suit for Chachu and Papa as well. Let's go, Anubhav, get ready to be a royal son," Anubhav said reluctantly.
As he got ready, he looked at himself in the mirror and thought, "It's not that bad."
The party at Mr. Akash Mittal's villa was about to start, and the guest list included top businessmen and celebrities. The media was also present to cover the event.
Mr. Akash Mittal and his wife, Mrs. Vani Mittal, were greeting guests outside, while Prakash and Meera were managing the arrangements inside. Naveen and Ruchna arrived at the party.
Akash greeted Naveen warmly and said, "I didn't think you'd come to the party. You never attend parties."
"I don't attend normal birthday parties or project meetings, but this is a special occasion. I had to come and congratulate you," Naveen replied.
The conversation continued, and Akash introduced Naveen to his son, Anubhav.
Naveen was impressed by Anubhav's simplicity and behavior. Other businessmen also noticed Anubhav and were interested in him as a potential son-in-law.
Ruchna and Naveen discussed Shagun's marriage and potential grooms. Ruchna mentioned Anubhav as a suitable match for Shagun.
Vani overheard their conversation and joined in, discussing the possibility of Shagun and Anubhav getting married.
The conversation continued, with everyone trying to find a suitable match for Shagun and Anubhav.
Suman Ji intervened, suggesting that they should directly ask the children if they're interested in each other.
The decision was made to let the children decide for themselves, and Vani asked Ruchna to send her a photo of Shagun.
Ruchna sent the photo, and Vani sent some photos of Anubhav. Vani was smiling, thinking that things were falling into place. The only thing left was for Shagun and Anubhav to like each other.
It was around 2 am. The party at Mittal Villa had ended, and all the guests had left. The entire Mittal family was sitting in the living room, talking to each other.
Anubhav was bored and said that he was going to sleep early since he was used to waking up early.
"That party was really amazing. I'm tired, but I had a great time," Meera said, sitting on the sofa.
"Yes, it's been a while since we've met so many people, so it was nice. I especially enjoyed meeting Naveen," Suman Ji said with a smile.
As soon as Naveen's name was mentioned, Akash and Vani remembered that they had asked him for his daughter Shagun's hand in marriage. No one else knew about it except Suman Ji.
"I want to share something with all of you," Vani said, getting up and connecting her phone to the LED screen in front of her. Shagun's photos were on the screen, sent by her mother.
"Who is she, Bhabi? She looks very cute," Meera asked.
"She's Naveen's daughter, Shagun. She's a very sweet girl and talented too... like our Anubhav, she's preparing herself to take over her father's business," Akash explained.
"Are you thinking of asking for her hand in marriage for Anubhav?" Prakash asked.
"We're not just thinking about it; we've already discussed it," Suman Ji said with a laugh.
Their conversation made Prakash and Meera exchange a glance, as if they were communicating silently.
"We should ask Anubhav about it. Times have changed, and nowadays, children want to make important decisions like marriage on their own," Prakash said in a low voice, recalling his own time when he couldn't express his feelings and had to marry Meera.
"That's true; earlier times were different. We adjusted, but today's children don't know how to adjust," Meera added.
"What's wrong with arranged marriages? My marriage was arranged with Akash, and so was yours with Prakash. If our children have someone in mind, that's a different story. I don't think Anubhav has anyone in his life. If he did, he would have told us by now," Vani said.
"Yes, and there's no pressure on Anubhav. Let both children meet each other, spend time together, and then make a decision," Akash suggested.
Prakash and Meera smiled at each other, and Anshika muttered, "It seems Anubhav's fate is sealed. His uncle has already selected a girl for him, and he's dreaming of something else. I hope he doesn't make a wrong decision trying to impress them."
The topic of Shagun was closed, and everyone went to sleep. Akash and Vani went to their room, Suman Ji to hers, and the rest of the family followed suit.
Anshika was about to go to her room when Meera called out to her, "Wait, Anshika, I need to talk to you."
"Yes, we should talk. Since the topic of marriage came up, it's essential we discuss it," Prakash said.
Anshika looked at them in surprise, her heart racing. She wondered if her parents had already chosen someone for her.
"Our marriage was arranged... nowadays, parents and children have a friendly bond, so we don't want to hide anything. We love each other a lot, but when we got married, it took us two years to accept the relationship. Prakash had someone else in mind. I gave him time to forget, but that was wrong. If you have someone in mind, tell us, and we'll arrange your marriage with that person," Meera said, having a very open mindset.
"Yes, that's correct. There shouldn't be any misunderstanding. I'm lucky to have Meera, who understood me and helped me move forward. Not everyone is as fortunate," Prakash added.
Anshika's heart longed to tell them about Sahansh, but she remained silent, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world, with parents who asked about her preferences.
Anshika hugged her parents and said, "You both are amazing... and I love you so much."
They patted her head affectionately, and after a brief conversation, they went to sleep.
Anubhav had to stay another day but had to leave urgently due to his boss's call. He was packing his bags when Vani entered his room.
"Your life is crazy... I thought we'd spend a day or two together happily, but..." Vani's statement remained incomplete as she became emotional.
"No, Mom... in two months, it's your birthday, and I'll be back. I'll spend time with you then," Anubhav said, hugging her.
Vani had an idea and said, "I've thought of a way to make your father give you his position quickly, and you can stay here forever."
Anubhav's face lit up, and he separated from her, saying, "You're joking, right?"
Vani shook her head and said, "No... I've already talked to Naveen's parents about your marriage to Shagun. Think about it, Anubhav; if you marry her, your father will give you his position, and you can stay here forever. You'll manage your business, and she'll manage hers. A perfect business family relationship... both of you will progress and rule the business world."
Anubhav's mind spun after listening to her plan.
"You can't be serious. I'm capable of proving myself. I don't want to use this as a shortcut to get ahead," Anubhav said, trying to brush off the idea.
Akash entered the room, overhearing their conversation.
"I expected as much from you. Your mom is crazy, coming up with absurd ideas. She didn't join the business, but she's always thinking about how to take it forward," Akash said.
Vani smiled and said, "I'm not wrong; I want our business and Shagun's to flourish. She'll be a perfect businesswoman, and she'll learn from me."
Akash said, "There's nothing wrong, beta. Don't pay much attention to your mom's talk. Now, listen carefully; Shagun lives in Dehradun. I want you to meet her."
"But, Papa, why is there a need for marriage now? I'm focused on work, and I have only one year. I don't want to waste it on marriage or a girl," Anubhav replied.
"Do you have someone else in mind?" Vani asked suddenly.
Anubhav hesitated and quickly said, "No... no one."
Vani was relieved and said, "I've already talked to Ruchika; she'll fix your meeting with Shagun. Make a good impression; today's girls don't like simple boys."
Anubhav's face showed a fake smile. He couldn't say no to Akash. He nodded and said, "Okay, I'll meet her."
Akash said, "And don't worry; there's no pressure. If you don't like Shagun, just tell me, and I promise I won't disturb you for a year. You can complete your training peacefully."
As Akash left, Anubhav fell onto the bed, feeling overwhelmed.
"God! Why is this happening to me? I don't know if I should be happy that Papa wants to give me the empire soon or sad that if I refuse to marry her, he'll take another year. Prarthana... if she finds out, she'll kill me," Anubhav thought, scratching his head.
He packed his belongings and left for Dehradun, where his meeting with Shagun would decide his future.
Anand was back in Dehradun and was present at his flat with Gatik. He told Gatik everything that had happened, how his family had selected a girl for him.
After listening to the whole story, Gatik started laughing. "I've never seen a rich boy in such a bad situation. I have complete sympathy for you, my friend." Gatik came up to him, patted his shoulder, and laughed loudly.
Anand made a childish, innocent face and said, "You can't understand my problem. I didn't know my mom thinks that far ahead. While the rest of the world wants an ideal daughter-in-law to manage their home, my mom is looking for a businesswoman for me to expand our business."
Gatik laughed and said, "Now I understand why you're like this. You're from a business family... By the way, have you thought about what you're going to do next?"
Anand thought for a moment and then said, "The girl my family has chosen is actually a good option. If I didn't love Prarthana, I would marry Shagun for my benefit, but I love Prarthana and want to spend my life with her... However, I also need my father's property as soon as possible."
Gatik said, "What if the girl refuses to marry you? You can pretend to be heartbroken in front of your family and refuse to come to Dehradun, saying it reminds you of Shagun."
Anand's face lit up with excitement. "That's a solid idea. You've become clever living with me. But are there any side effects? What if my family tries to find another girl?"
Gatik smiled mischievously and said, "That's even better. We can send Prarthana's family to your house to ask for her hand in marriage... You can quickly make Prarthana like you, and I'll help you with the setting."
Anand agreed, and Gatik asked for a favor in return: "Just transfer the flat to my name permanently."
Anand agreed, and Gatik was overjoyed.
Later that evening, around 4:00 PM, Ruchana was with Naveen at the Goenka Empire. They were discussing how to inform Shagun about her potential marriage.
Naveen was hesitant to talk to Shagun, fearing she would cry and change his mind. Ruchana convinced him to let her talk to Shagun.
Ruchana called Shagun, who was in a meeting with Shubh. Shagun returned the call, and Ruchana informed her about the potential marriage to Anand.
Shagun was taken aback and felt emotional. She didn't want to give up her business and felt her parents were trying to get rid of her.
Shagun agreed to meet Anand, but her tone was cold and angry. Ruchana told her to meet Anand at the Green Deal hotel that evening.
Shagun hung up the phone, feeling upset and frustrated. She left the meeting and drove home, while Naveen and Ruchana were worried about Shagun's reaction.
Shagun was driving home after talking to Ruchna and Navin. She was in her car. She hadn't even told Shubh about it before she left. She was driving pretty angrily.
"I feared what would happen, and it did. If this was going to happen, why was I working so hard here? Why was I showing so much dedication? There's a limit... For the first time today, I'm angry with myself for being a girl. Whatever happens, the world may change, but I'm not going to get married..." Shagun muttered.
She was driving quite rashly. In this round, the traffic constable stopped her.
"What's wrong, madam? It seems you're in a big hurry. Don't rush to your destination and end up somewhere else." He explained to her.
Shagun showed a smile on her face and said in a soft voice, "Yes, sir, I'll be more careful from now on."
The traffic constable gestured her to go. Shagun drove a little further and stopped her car. She had a flask of liquor in her car, which she swallowed in one gulp to relax a bit.
"It seems I'll have to talk to her now. She's the only one who can advise me on this matter. After all, she went through the same thing..." Shagun said to herself and pulled out her phone's contact list.
She dialed her friend Harshita's number. Harshita also belonged to a business family like her and was the only child of her parents. Her family had arranged her marriage to a business family.
"Oh, it seems I accidentally called. I haven't seen a self-centered girl like you. You called me after eight months... Don't you feel ashamed to call your best friend after such a long time?" Harshita's voice came from the other end.
"You know I don't feel ashamed, and I couldn't call you, but your hands weren't filled with henna, were they?"
"Henna wasn't applied to my hands, but my marriage had just happened. I should give some time to my husband." Harshita replied with a smile.
As soon as Shagun heard the word "marriage" from her mouth, her face fell. She spoke in a slow voice, "Okay, fine, tell me where you are right now?"
"Where else would I be? I'm where I should be, of course, at Mehul's house."
"But you were going to take over your father's business after marriage? Is everything okay?" Shagun asked in surprise.
"Yes, everything is fine. In fact, there's good news. You're going to be a maternal aunt. I took over the business, but now that I'm pregnant, Mehul said he'd take care of everything. He doesn't want me to stress out in this condition. I'll have to take care of the baby after it's born. It seems I'm going on a long vacation now, and later I'll plan for a second baby... Mehul wants more than one child." Harshita was telling her everything happily. It was clear from her voice that her husband loved her a lot.
Shagun burst out laughing after listening to all that and said, "Has someone cast a spell on you? What's all this nonsense you're saying? Don't you remember we planned to become successful businesswomen? You've got married, and now this... You're not making sense."
After listening to Shagun's words, Harshita took a deep breath and slowly walked outside. She locked her room door and came inside and said, "I have to be careful, sister. I'm at my in-laws' place. There could be relatives or staff around. If someone overhears my conversation and complains to my mother-in-law, she'll ruin my life."
"So, you're not happy?"
Harshita's expression changed. Shagun converted the call to a video call. Shagun saw that Harshita had gained a lot of weight and was about six months pregnant.
"I did it all according to plan, didn't I? First, he showed me big dreams, and then he used the name of love to do this... I feel sorry for the child. And I'm sorry for you too... They all do this. First, they show big dreams, and then they do this. You know, I also got a proposal from a business family. I thought I'd see your situation before saying yes, and after seeing this, I'll never say yes." Shagun shared her experience with Harshita.
"Yes, absolutely right. Never say yes. If you don't want this to happen to you, don't do it." Harshita replied.
Shagun ended the call after Harshita advised her.
Shagun imagined herself in Harshita's situation.
She saw herself wearing a loose knee-length frock like Harshita's. She was also six months pregnant like her.
"A baby, I love babies... I don't want our child to be an only child like my father's. He has so much property from his grandparents and parents. We'll have three or four children." A man's voice came into her ears, at which Shagun nodded her head like a robot.
Shagun suddenly snapped out of her trance. She searched for a water bottle and hit herself with it.
"No...," she shouted, "I won't let this happen to me. I didn't stay away from luxury for so long to see this day. If I wanted to enjoy my husband's money, I would have gotten engaged earlier and traveled with him happily... I couldn't even eat peacefully because of meetings."
Shagun started crying fake tears.
"No, Shagun, you won't let this happen to you. Just call Mom and ask her what she said about the boy's family." Shagun told herself and dialed Ruchna's number.
"So, what do you think, beta?" Ruchna asked as soon as she picked up the call.
Shagun was still angry with them, so she spoke rudely.
"What's the point of my thinking, Mom? You took such a big decision without asking me. What's the difference what I think or not?"
"You don't need to panic. Experience is a very good boy. Try to say yes on the first try. This is in your best interest. If you get married, you won't have to stay outside, and your father will give you all the responsibility before retiring. You know a long line of boys was behind this boy... I managed to get you to the front of the line with great difficulty."
Shagun had a mocking smile on her face. "Yes, of course. You got me to the front of the line, and now please tell me how to cross the line and reach him? I mean, what should I do to impress him?"
Ruchna was happy with her response. She said, "Listen carefully. The boy's name is Experience. He's handsome and talented; you know he's a designer. Wear good clothes and dress like a designer so you can impress him. I told them you're very cultured. His mother, Vani, is my best friend. She's okay with you managing the business. You know what kind of girls boys like these days. They're a bit modern. Vani and Meera may be homemakers, but they're quite modern and dress like that too."
Shagun replied, "Okay, I'll talk to you tonight."
Ruchna wished her good luck and ended the call. Shagun reached home and told Harshita everything her mother had said. Harshita told her how to prepare for the meeting.
Shagun was getting ready to meet Experience. She chose a simple long-sleeved Anarkali suit with a red Bandhani print dupatta. She wore oxide long earrings and straightened her hair with a middle partition. She looked like a typical serial heroine.
"After seeing my form, Mr. Designer will definitely agree. He must have expected a modern girl to wear designer clothes and walk like Katrina Kaif. My simple and cheap suit will definitely get rejected... As Mom said, boys these days like modern girls. A girl whose mom and aunt are so modern, there must be some expectations, and after seeing me, poor guy's expectations will be dashed in two minutes." Shagun said with a smile.
Then she did her makeup and wore earrings and heavy bangles that made a lot of noise. After finishing her makeup, Shagun was completely ready.
She jingled her bangles and said, "Let's go meet Experience Mittal, but before that, let's learn a bit about him." Shagun took her laptop and started searching for his account.
Shagun was surprised because Experience didn't have any social media account.
"It seems you're trying to hide something about yourself. I didn't create a social media account so people wouldn't know where I live or what I do. Maybe you're also hiding something, Mr. Mittal. Maybe you're also hiding a lot. Whatever it is, it'll work in my favor."
Shagun found it strange that Experience didn't have a social media account. Now she wanted to know more about him so she could find a reason to refuse the marriage.
Shagun was ready to meet Anubhav, and on the other hand, Anubhav was also getting ready to meet her. There were many designer clothes scattered on the bed in his room, and Gatik was standing nearby.
"What are you thinking of wearing? Which one of these will you wear?" Gatik asked.
"My mom stuffed all these clothes in my bag when I was packing to come here, and I didn't even notice. Now she's messaging me to wear one of these." Anubhav was looking at each piece of clothing.
"So, what's the problem? Just wear one. They're all good. You'll definitely impress any girl after wearing these. You said she was from a high-class family, right? Girls like such boys... not poor, innocent boys like us who wear cheap clothes." Gatik said with a pout.
After hearing Gatik's words, Anubhav looked at him carefully. Gatik was wearing a normal pair of jeans and a blue and black checked shirt.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Don't think I'm one of those boys. I'm not like that, okay?" Gatik took two steps back.
Suddenly, Anubhav ran to him and hugged him tightly.
"Wow, my friend, you're really getting smart after staying with me. Take these clothes and wear them. You do whatever you want. You've won my heart. If I get a chance, I'll tell Shagun about you."
Anubhav kept talking, while Gatik didn't understand why he was so happy.
"Listen, you're going to meet a girl. Don't go after drinking, or if she tells your family, everything will go wrong." Gatik said.
"I haven't had anything to drink, but you've given me a great idea. Take out your clothes..."
As Anubhav spoke, Gatik started running out of the room. He shouted, "I'm not that kind of boy! What's wrong with you? Have you forgotten about Prarthna?"
"Foolish boy, I wasn't talking about that. I don't know what's going on in your mind. I need your clothes so I can wear them to meet Shagun. You said girls don't like boys who wear such clothes, right?" Anubhav explained.
Gatik stopped and let out a sigh of relief. "So, that's it. Your idea is actually quite good. But why do you need my clothes? I have many cheap ones that I bought on sale."
Gatik took Anubhav's hand and led him to his room. He opened the wardrobe and handed Anubhav a pair of black denim pants and a light sky blue shirt.
Anubhav changed into the clothes. He wore the shirt inside out and put on Gatik's belt.
"Wait, my hero, I'm not done yet. I still need to add the finishing touches." Gatik said.
Anubhav looked at him in surprise. Gatik picked up a bottle of coconut oil and applied some to Anubhav's hair.
"What's this? You're making me look like a monkey. I'll run away if I see myself in the mirror." Anubhav pushed him away.
"It's just for today. Adjust for once, and then you'll have a lifetime of happiness." Gatik sat Anubhav down on the bed and started styling his hair.
Anubhav looked in the mirror and saw that he looked formal and decent.
"I look like a bank employee. I'm too refined. I might fall in love with myself." Anubhav said with a smile.
Just then, Gatik sprayed perfume on him.
"Ugh! What's this smell? I thought it was coming from home." Anubhav wrinkled his nose.
"Come on, let's go. I've done everything. You can't keep the girl waiting." Gatik pushed him out of the room.
Anubhav wore Gatik's shoes, which were a bit tight. He didn't want Shagun to suspect anything.
Vani had already booked a table for them at a hotel. She had booked the entire hotel for that day so that no one would disturb their conversation.
It was 8:00 PM. Anubhav had been waiting for half an hour. He was waiting for Shagun.
"This girl is making me wait so long. I wonder what she'll do later. I'm not even getting married. Who cares?" Anubhav thought to himself.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of anklets. He saw a girl walking towards him wearing a white suit. She had a small sindoor dot on her forehead and a thali in her hand. Her eyes widened as he looked at her. She looked completely different from her photos.
"Have you come from the temple?" Anubhav asked, standing up and pulling out a chair for her.
Shagun nodded and smiled. "Today is a special day for me. I had to thank God. Please take the prasad."
They exchanged fake smiles. Anubhav was wearing simple clothes, and the perfume smell was irritating Shagun.
As they sat down, Shagun thought, "Look at him, dressed like a monkey, with his hair stuck together... and this perfume. If I stay here for a longer time, I might faint. These clothes are so simple. Even a kid can make them."
Anubhav thought, "She's a big businesswoman. I wonder if she can handle her business. She's not on time, and she's wearing a thali and carrying prasad. She must be very traditional."
The conversation began with Anubhav asking, "Why are you sitting quietly? Shouldn't we order something to eat? You know why we're meeting here."
Shagun replied, "Why not? I was fasting today and didn't eat anything. Please order whatever you like."
Anubhav ordered the cheapest dish on the menu.
Shagun thought, "He's going to support me and take care of me after marriage... what a fool. He didn't even say, 'Let's order your favorite dish.' And what did he order? The lowest-rated dish on the menu. I'm glad I had food at home."
As they waited for their food, they sat in silence.
Shagun started the conversation, "My mom told me you've been living in Dehradun for a long time. What's your experience been like? Have you been to this hotel before?"
Anubhav shared his experience. Shagun was surprised to hear that he had had a bad experience at the hotel before.
Shagun thought, "So, that was me who did that. If it weren't for my image, I would have reacted right there."
Anubhav asked, "Do you have any problems with managing my house and me?"
Shagun replied, "I can manage your house, your business, and my father's business perfectly. I'm here to get training. If I have to go on an office trip, I might not get to spend time with your family... but my parents say love is in the heart, and I assure you I'll love you all from the heart."
As they finished their meal and left the hotel, they both thought the opposite of what they had expected. They didn't want to hear from each other, but their acting had changed everything.
They returned home, hoping that the other person would refuse to marry them.
After meeting each other, Shagun and Anubhav had gone to their respective homes. Anubhav was at his flat with Gatik and was sharing his experience with him.
He told him how Shagun had come up as a cultured girl and was showing off as if she was the most perfect girl who could manage business and home together.
“It's clear from what you're saying that this girl is no innocent; she's a master manipulator. You thought you were very smart, didn't you? Well, you've met your match. She probably wants you to agree to this marriage for her own reasons,” Gatik said with a laugh.
“Why did I work so hard for that fake...” Anubhav said, making a face. “I've never seen such a fake girl in my life. 'Go to the temple, take some prasad, I'll manage your office, business, family, and everything...'” Anubhav mimicked Shagun.
“Honestly, if you marry her, she'll leave you with nothing. She's very ambitious and talented. I've seen girls like her; they're quick and talented,” Gatik warned.
Anubhav covered his face with his hands. “Shut up... don't say such ominous things. I don't want her to say yes to the marriage. If I marry her, I'll be ruined.”
The conversation continued with Gatik advising Anubhav on how to handle the situation.
Meanwhile, Shagun reached home, changed into casual clothes, and called Harshita. Shagun shared her experience with Harshita, describing Anubhav as a fake and manipulative person.
Harshita teased Shagun, suggesting that Anubhav might be genuinely simple and not manipulative. Shagun disagreed, saying she knew he was fake.
The next morning, Anubhav's mother, Vani, called him to inquire about Shagun. Anubhav expressed his reservations about Shagun, mentioning her simplicity and conservative nature.
Vani interpreted his words positively, thinking that Anubhav was interested in Shagun. She planned to share the news with their family.
On the other side, Shagun's mother, Ruchna, called her to ask about Anubhav. Shagun expressed her doubts about Anubhav's simplicity and questioned if he was genuinely the owner of the Mittal Empire.
Ruchna tried to convince Shagun that simplicity was a good trait and that Anubhav could be a good match. She sent Shagun some pictures of Anubhav, which showed him dressed in expensive branded clothes.
Shagun was convinced that Anubhav was trying to hide his true self. She decided to meet him again and was determined to uncover his true nature.
Both Shagun and Anubhav decided to meet again, with their parents hopeful that they would eventually agree to the marriage.
Vani sent Ruchna the contact number of Anubhav and asked her to give it to Shagun. Ruchna had also sent Shagun's number to Anubhav in return. Through Ruchna and Vani, Shagun and Anubhav got each other's contact numbers.
Shagun saved Anubhav's number. "Okay, so now I have to call Mr. Simple to meet him. Okay... that's fine. If I have the contact number, it will not be difficult to know about him."
On the other hand, after getting Shagun's number, Anubhav was also in a similar state. He was in his room and was about to leave for the office.
"This is a great way to forcibly bind someone... Now I can't say no even if I want to. What a strange trouble... I don't want such property, I want my freedom." Anubhav shouted and threw his mobile.
After hearing his shout, Gatik came inside. "Why are you so angry?"
"See, first they sent me to meet her, and then when I indirectly said no to mom, they thought I wanted to meet her again. They even sent me her number. I'm telling you, if this continues, I don't want my dad's property."
Anubhav's words made Gatik look at him with wide eyes. He put his hand on Anubhav's forehead and touched his neck.
Then Gatik held his hand and said, "You don't have a fever. Why are you talking like this? Did you drink or something?"
"Stop it, stop it. I'm not in the mood for taunts. Your family is enough, now you don't start." Anubhav shook off his hand.
"If you're so troubled, tell your family that you don't want to marry this girl... even if they disown you for it. What does it matter if your surname changes from Mittal? Is it necessary for everyone in the world to wear branded clothes, shoes, and other things? To have a good house? No, my friend, I'm with you. We'll manage with two dry rotis and rice if needed." Gatik said, putting his hand on Anubhav's shoulder.
Hearing his words, Anubhav's face fell. He said in a dull voice, "Okay, I'll go meet her... and talk too. The world runs on hope. Maybe that girl will refuse herself and I won't need to do anything."
Gatik made a face and said, "You make big talk and eat big food." "If you can't do it, I'll message her and say I'll meet her today."
Gatik picked up Anubhav's phone and quickly sent a message to Shagun to meet her that evening.
"Problem solved... meet her tonight and clear everything." Gatik said.
"The problem hasn't been solved, it's going to increase. Oh God! Why did you give me so many troubles in my life... If you wanted to make me rich, my parents could have given me someone else." Anubhav said with a sad face.
Then Shagun's message arrived on his mobile. She had invited him to meet at a temple that evening. After reading the message, Anubhav said, "See, see what you've done... This girl has invited me to a temple to meet her. She's doing it on purpose so that I get irritated. You know I don't go to temples."
Gatik was laughing at Anubhav's condition. He left him there and went away. Later, Anubhav went to the office.
Anubhav forgot everything and worked at the office. Due to the prayer, he didn't think about Shagun.
After a whole day at the office, when it was time to leave, Prarthana told Anubhav, "Baby, you've been here for two days and we haven't gone out anywhere. I've missed you so much." Prarthana hugged Anubhav.
Anubhav said in a serious tone, "And I... Prarthana, I love you so much."
Prarthana separated from him and said with a smile, "You don't need to be so emotional. We haven't met for many days, so you're feeling sentimental. Don't worry, we'll chill together tonight and your mood will be fine."
When Prarthana said she wanted to meet that evening, Anubhav remembered Shagun. "No, baby, I can't meet you tonight."
"But you're free after office. Do you have somewhere to go?" Prarthana looked at him.
"I... I'm going to a temple... I'm going to the temple today."
"A temple? But you never go to temples. I've known you for a long time, and your evenings are usually spent in pubs or clubs. How did you plan to go to a temple suddenly?" Prarthana was surprised.
Anubhav said with an innocent face, "Actually, this time I went home and my mom told me that there is a lot of power in prayer. I want to pray so that I get my wish." "Will you come with me?"
"No... I have other plans. I was going to introduce you to my friend, but you're planning to go somewhere else. No problem... I'll introduce you another time." Prarthana refused to go with him. Anubhav knew this beforehand, so he asked Prarthana.
After office, Anubhav went home. Before going home, he went shopping for himself. He bought a white cotton kurta and pajama to wear to the temple.
Anubhav was getting ready to go to the temple. Gatik burst out laughing after seeing him. "You look like a number one hypocrite... I'm sure even God would curse you seeing you. You remind me of politicians who wear white clothes to carry out their black deeds."
Anubhav was standing in front of the mirror, setting his hair. He turned to Gatik and said, "Enough, I'm not that bad. I don't want others' property, I want my own. Just get this done. Look, I'll be more cultured than her today."
Gatik laughed and said, "There's no flaw, beta, your innocent face and clothes match well. You look like a hypocrite."
Anubhav pushed Gatik aside and left for the temple.
Soon, Anubhav arrived at the temple. He was surprised to see Shagun standing there. To prove himself better, Anubhav had worn a kurta and pajama, but Shagun was standing in a red saree.
Anubhav thought to himself, "This girl is to be avoided. No matter what you do, she'll always be two steps ahead of you."
Shagun tried to control her laughter, seeing Anubhav's appearance. She quickly composed herself and walked towards him.
Shagun thought, "Lord, forgive me. I'm lying in front of your temple."
Anubhav said, "Let's go inside."
Shagun nodded and they both entered the temple. They did the aarti and stood before God, joining their hands.
Shagun thought to herself, "I know, Lord, I've always prayed to you for selfish reasons, but I've never lacked in my prayers. Why are you giving me such a result? Please take this boy out of my life."
Anubhav also prayed to God in a similar way.
After praying, they looked at each other and smiled. At that moment, the same woman who had met Shagun a few days ago came to the temple. She was happy to see Shagun in a saree with a boy.
The woman went to Shagun, touched her head, and said, "I told you that there is delay in the Lord's house, but not darkness. You got a good boy. Look how innocent he looks. Your prayers and my prayers that day were answered."
The woman's words made Shagun shake her head in negation. The woman said again, "No, beta, you shouldn't say no to God. See how much he thought about you. Now you've got a good boy, but you were demanding your father's property that day. Did you get it?"
Shagun smiled and tried to divert the conversation.
The woman continued, "But you were saying that day that you don't want to get married and you want the property. Have you changed your mind?"
The woman's words made Shagun look around, while Anubhav looked at her in surprise. The woman continued to speak, telling everything that had happened between Shagun and her that day.
The woman had told Shagun everything about her in a conversation. Shagun couldn't say anything, trying to be good. The woman started her Puja.
Shagun glared at her. "Those who do wrong to others have a separate punishment in hell. Lord Ji makes their pakodas and feeds them to his dogs." Shagun thought, looking at her.
"Let's sit outside and talk. It's very peaceful there," Experienced said, gesturing to the stairs outside the temple.
Shagun nodded and left the temple with him. The woman's words had made Shagun feel embarrassed.
"Don't pay attention to what she says," Shagun said softly.
"Of course, I won't. You're always coming to the temple, right? I heard one shouldn't lie in front of God, and you stood there... I hope you're telling the truth, and that aunt is lying," Experienced hit Shagun's weak point.
Shagun got angry and took deep breaths to calm down. She glared at Experienced.
"Really? You're not a saint. I know you well. You've been on my case since morning," Shagun said, pulling out photos on her phone.
Experienced took out his phone and showed Shagun pictures of the two of them.
"I wear these clothes when I come to the temple. If you don't believe me, ask that aunt. She's seen me here many times," Shagun explained.
The woman came out of the temple and said, "This girl can't be trusted. She's already threatening God and now her would-be husband. I'm telling you, son, stay away from her."
Shagun said, "Did you hear what she said? You still have a chance to leave."
"Do you think I want to spend my life with you? Not at all. You're not my type, Miss Sanskari," Experienced said, laughing.
The two looked at each other and sat on the stairs. They didn't say anything for a while.
"Our parents are forcing us. They don't pressure us, but they use emotional force. I don't want to marry you; I love someone else," Experienced said.
"That's your issue. I don't believe in marriage, and there's no one else in my life. My focus is on business. I want to break the stereotype that women can't handle business," Shagun said.
"That doesn't concern me. You have to convince your parents that you don't want to marry me," Experienced said.
"I won't convince them. If I say no, your parents will find someone else..."
The woman warned Shagun, and Shagun responded, "You've heard her, right? You still have a chance to leave."
Experienced said, "I respect girls, and I don't want to say I rejected someone. That's bad."
Shagun said, "I'm different. I want to break stereotypes. I want someone to reject me badly."
Shagun got into her car and left. Experienced sat on the road, regretting his conversation.
Meanwhile, Shagun called Harshita and told her everything. Harshita laughed and said, "Poor guy... He got trapped in your web of words."
Shagun replied, "He's not innocent. He's smart, but his habit of showing off will get him into trouble someday."
On the other side, Experienced went home, frustrated, and told Gatik everything. Gatik listened and said, "Don't worry, friend. I have a plan to save you."
Gatik explained his plan, and Experienced got an idea. He decided not to run away but to face Shagun.
Experienced and Gatik made a plan to deal with Shagun. Gatik suggested Experienced leave town for a while, but Experienced disagreed.
Experienced decided to go to Shagun and make her reject him. Gatik was surprised but agreed to support his friend.
The two friends were excited, thinking about how to execute their plan.
After meeting Shagun, Anubhav was back home. Shagun had put all the responsibility of backing out of the marriage on Anubhav. Anubhav had already made a plan while talking to Gatik.
"Wow, my lion... if she is a sly fox, she is no less than a cunning jackal," Gatik patted Anubhav's back.
Anubhav glared at him and chased him, "You called her a fox, that's fine, but did you have to compare her to a jackal? At least make a good comparison."
"Okay, okay, you're my lion, cheetah, everything. Now, let's follow the plan. Don't let that sly fox outsmart us again," Gatik said.
Anubhav saved Shagun's number as 'Sly Fox'. He then called his mother, Vani.
Vani received the call and teased Anubhav about calling her multiple times. Anubhav explained that he had met Shagun and was eager to share the news.
Vani was excited and asked about the meeting. Anubhav described Shagun in exaggerated terms, praising her qualities.
Vani was thrilled and asked if Shagun was interested. Anubhav seemed shy and ended the call.
Meanwhile, Vani was actually at Akash's house with Naveen, discussing the marriage. They had overheard the conversation between Anubhav and Vani.
Naveen called Shagun to inform her that Anubhav had agreed to the marriage. Shagun was surprised and unsure of how to respond.
Shagun then called Anubhav, angry that he had agreed without consulting her. Gatik received the call and pretended to be Anubhav.
Shagun demanded to know Anubhav's address and threatened to come over. Gatik provided the address, and Shagun rushed to Anubhav's house.
Shagun had not slept and was still dressed in casual clothes. She drove to Anubhav's house, which was in the opposite direction of her home.
As she arrived, Gatik was amused by the situation, thinking that Shagun would not have come so quickly.
