Berlin is the capital of Germany.
On the top floor of a construction building. Only walls and ruins of a building were there.
Perhaps the construction had stopped years ago. In the middle of a large hall, a central table was placed.
On one side of the central table, a 55-year-old man wearing an overcoat and a cape was sitting. His blue eyes and a cigarette pressed between his lips made it clear that he was no ordinary man.
On the other side of the table, a person in a business suit was sitting with one leg folded over the other. He was about 26 years old, 6 feet tall, with light brown eyes, sharp jawline, and a broad chest. This man was capable of attracting anyone's attention.
The blue-eyed man looked forward, removed the burning cigarette from his mouth, and exhaled a puff of smoke before speaking in German,
"Robi, I will give you double what you have been paid. Do it for me."
The brown-eyed man sitting across from him let out a dirty laugh and said,
"Robi does work for money, but with honesty. And no one can doubt my honesty; you are an example of that."
Just then, a tapping sound came from there. Their attention shifted to a pillar where a girl, dressed in a very short and revealing outfit, was tapping the floor with her high heels.
She was German, with deep red lipstick on her lips and a cigarette between them. She looked at Robi with her drowsy eyes, removed the cigarette from her lips, exhaled smoke, and said,
"I like your style."
A slanted smile appeared on Robin's face. The blue-eyed man glared at the girl and said,
"You sleep with me and look at other men."
The girl did not respond; she continued to stare at Robi.
The blue-eyed man looked at Robi and said,
"Robi, I am willing to give you three times the amount; join hands with me."
Robi had an arrogant smile on his face as he replied,
"I don't shake hands with anyone; you know what diseases spread that way. And as for money, I am a thief but an honest one; I won't cheat the person I took money from."
Saying this, Robi raised his hand, which held a gun. Before anyone could even think, Robi fired the gun. The silencer made the shot silent, but in that instant, the blue-eyed man fell.
Robi's face remained expressionless; he calmly watched the blood flow from the man's body. The girl seemed unfazed; she continued to blow cigarette smoke as she walked past Robi and left.
Robi glanced at the dead man, then stood up and followed the girl.
When Robi arrived where the girl had gone, he found her sitting on a slab in a very odd position. Her attire and demeanor would make anyone feel embarrassed, but Robi moved forward without emotion.
The girl took a final drag on her cigarette, flicked it aside, and began exhaling smoke from her lips.
As Robi approached very close to her, the girl pressed her lips between her teeth and revealed her slender neck to Robi.
Robi grabbed her neck from behind and began to kiss it.
A while later, the girl's clothes and Robi's lay on the floor, and the room filled with her screams and moans.
After everything ended, the girl lay on Robi's chest like a snake. Robi had his hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling.
The girl lifted her face, and as she was about to reach Robi's lips, he turned his face away.
The girl looked at Robi in surprise and asked in German,
"What happened?"
Robi pushed her off him, sat up, and said,
"You don't deserve to kiss my lips."
The girl's eyes narrowed; she had been intimate with Robi, but he wouldn't let her kiss his lips. She cursed in anger,
"W.t.f…. "
Robi got down from the slab, dressed himself, and said,
"All done, sweetheart. If you want, I can do much more."
The girl, still naked, wrapped her arms around Robi's neck and said,
"Just give me one kiss, and I'll take you on a tour of heaven."
Robi had an evil smile on his face as he pushed her away and said,
"Your reach isn't enough to touch my lips."
The girl's eyes narrowed. She asked,
"What do you want to say?"
Robi said,
"I've been physically involved with many girls, but none have reached my lips. Because the girl who reaches my lips will have a connection straight to my heart, and no girl has been born yet who can find a place in my heart."
The girl caressed Robi's chest with her hands and said,
"Give me a chance; maybe I can make a place for myself by reaching your heart."
Robi caught her hand, jerked it, and said,
"Girls like you are only good in bed, not in life. And I don't reuse things once they've been used."
The girl was stunned. Five minutes later, Robi adjusted his clothes and left.
The girl lay naked on the slab, her red dress carelessly discarded below. Her hands hung off the slab, and a bullet wound was visible in the middle of her forehead. Robi had shot her.
Robi exited the construction site, got into his car, started the Bugatti, and connected to a phone on the steering wheel. He said to someone,
"Tell the party on the other side; the job is done. Send the rest of the money."
The voice on the other end acknowledged. Robi hung up, pulled out a cigarette from the dashboard, lit it, and drove off. Ten minutes later, a message arrived on Robi's phone; 10 lakh euros had been transferred to his account.
A wide smile spread across Robi's face. As he blew out cigarette smoke, he typed a message.
Two smiley and happy emojis came back.
On the seafront in Germany, aboard a luxurious cruise.
Robi entered a bedroom on the cruise and immediately went to the bathroom. He undressed and stood under the shower, water cascading down.
His strong chest, biceps, and six-pack gave him the appearance of a hot lady killer. And he indeed was one. His look made any girl want to give up her life.
On his chest was a large circular tattoo. On one side of his shoulder was some writing in German.
On the other side was a snake tattoo; it seemed to encircle his left hand, giving a realistic effect, as if a snake had actually wrapped itself around his hand.
There was also a devil tattoo on his neck and an eagle's wings on his back, covering it entirely.
Despite having so many tattoos, his body was perfectly fit and attractive.
Robi gazed at his reflection in the mirror, lost in thought, as water droplets slid down his body like pearls.
Robi was on the cross. After a while, a shining Lamborghini stops in front of the cross. He opens the door of the Lamborghini.
And a 25-year-old boy comes out, looking quite attractive but slightly less than Robi.
At the same time, the other door of the car opens, and another 25-year-old boy comes out. This boy is from Germany. Both boys look handsome. Robi is more attractive and muscular, but they are not inferior.
The two boys look at the cross and one of them says, "Alex, what is this cross? We must thank Robbin."
His friend is very generous; he spends money without being stingy.
The German boy, whom the other boy called Alex, looks at him with a mix of curiosity and concern. He speaks in broken Hindi and German, "Nick, when I befriended you two, I had an idea that you would one day make me like you. You've already made me half Indian, and it seems you'll make me a gangster. Robbi is a killer, a contract killer who murders people for money. Do you know that if the police find out, they'll arrest him and throw him in jail? The punishment here is death; there's no forgiveness."
Nick looks at Alex and says, "He's not doing it for the first time; he's been doing it since he was 15. He's never been caught because Robbi and Robbin are the same person. Or, at least, the police here don't know that. All his contractors know him as Robbi, but we know him as Robbin."
Alex wants to say something, but Nick grabs his shoulder and pushes him forward. "Let's talk about it inside; Robbin must be waiting for us."
They enter the place, and the entire hall is empty. They sit on the sofa.
Nick offers Alex a drink, and Alex agrees. Nick gets up and heads to the fridge to get beer. As he approaches the fridge, the bathroom door opens, and Robbin comes out wearing a bathrobe. He has a calm expression on his face and greets them with a smile. "You two arrived; I was waiting."
Nick and Alex smile at Robbi. Robbin sits next to Alex, puts his hand on his shoulder, and asks, "Are you okay?"
Alex nods, and Nick opens the beer cans. "This guy is scared the police will catch him," he says.
Nick throws the beer cans to Robbi and Alex, who catch them. Robbi opens his can and says, "Don't worry; the police can't catch me."
The three enjoy their drinks. Alex says, "Guys, I'm serious; let's leave this job. We're educated; we can do some small business."
Robbi laughs, puts down his can, and pulls out a cigarette. "You crazy? I'll do this job while I'm young; I'll stop when I'm old."
Nick says, "And what about us? Our families have businesses; what about ours? We're orphans."
Robbi looks at Nick sternly. "Shut up, Nick. You know I don't like this. Who said we're orphans? You two are my family, my brothers. I don't like it when you bring this up, so let's not discuss it anymore."
Alex says, "Relax, Robbin; he just said it. And my father's presence doesn't mean anything; he married another woman after my mom died, so I distanced myself. You two are my family; I don't want anything to happen to you."
Robbin puts his hand on Alex's shoulder. "Let's end this fear and worry; let's party tonight."
The three raise their cans and cheer. They clink their cans together and drink.
It's nighttime in the infamous alleys of Germany, with neon lights and colors from the nightclub. This part of Germany is often the center of discussion.
Inside a nightclub, at a bar table, Robbin, Alex, and Nick enjoy their drinks. People around them dance and sing, losing themselves. The three boys have had a good amount of drink but are still aware of their surroundings.
Robbin notices a girl dancing on the pole, making seductive gestures towards him. Robbin smiles evilly.
Nick notices Robbin's reaction and smiles mischievously. He taps Alex's shoulder and says, "This is going to happen."
The girl approaches Robbin, puts her hand around his neck, and speaks in a seductive voice in German, "Can I help you with something?"
Robbin understands her, and it's clear he's been to such places before. He takes some money from his pocket and puts it on the bar counter. The girl's eyes light up when she sees the money.
She grabs Robbin's shirt and says, "Come with me."
Robbin stands up, winks at his friends, and follows the girl upstairs. Alex and Nick burst out laughing.
The girl takes Robbin to a private room, and they go inside. She starts undressing.
The girl dances and approaches Robbin, pushing him onto the sofa.
As Robbin lies on the sofa, the girl sits on his lap, puts her hand on his cheek, and moves towards his lips.
But Robbin puts his hand on her lips and says, "I paid you to make me happy, not to kiss me."
The girl looks at Robbin in confusion and says, "If I don't kiss you, how will I make you happy?"
Robbin lifts the girl and throws her onto the bed. He unbuckles his belt and says, "You're not the first to try to kiss me, and you're not the first I'm doing this with. But the girl who kisses me will be the last."
Robbin climbs on top of the girl, and soon, the room fills with intimate sounds.
No response from Groq.
Robin, Nikhil, and Alex were all startled when suddenly some people appeared and started firing at the table. One person at the table stood up, and the people around him also rose. A gunfight broke out between two factions.
Robin watched in astonishment. While shooting or seeing blood or dead people wasn't a big deal for him, he was surprised to see people firing around him so suddenly.
Nikhil quickly came to Robin and, pulling him, said, "Let's get out of here. We have nothing to do with this. These people are fighting amongst themselves."
Robin quickly left with him. The two of them quickly made their way to the parking lot via the elevator. As they reached the parking lot, Nikhil and Robin stopped. Nikhil slapped his forehead and said, "Where is Alex?"
Robin looked around. Alex hadn't come with them. They suddenly remembered. Alex felt dizzy seeing the blood and started to panic.
Could Alex still be at the scene of the firing? Thinking this, Robin was shocked. He quickly ran back towards the elevator. Before Nikhil could reach the elevator, it closed. Nikhil headed towards the terrace via the stairs.
When Robin reached there, his eyes widened in surprise. Alex was standing there, trembling with fear, and a short distance away, a man wearing a mask over his face was staring at Alex. He had a gun in his hands, pointed at Alex. Around them, there was a pile of corpses and rivers of blood.
Alex's spirit drained upon seeing this. A man stood before him, gun pointed at him. A tall, broad-shouldered man... whose face was covered with a handkerchief. Only his blood-red, blue eyes were visible.
When Robin saw this scene, he trembled for a moment. After losing his parents, he had killed countless people, but his hands had never shaken. But today, seeing his friend in the face of death, he was terribly panicked. Robin quickly approached the man and said in German, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot! He hasn't done anything. We have nothing to do with your fight. And we won't tell anyone anything. Let us go."
The man who was holding the gun on Alex was surprised to see someone suddenly appear before him. He thought it was just an ordinary person who had come to save his friend. He turned the gun towards Robin and said in German, "You are both a threat to me. If you tell anyone about this, my threat will increase. And I don't want anyone to know about me."
He had said all this in German. He thought Robin was an ordinary person. He was about to kill Robin, and then he would kill Alex. Before the man could fire a bullet from his gun, Robin pulled out the gun hidden behind him and struck the man on the head.
The man collapsed within a minute. He hadn't expected this, that Robin might have a gun. He had considered Robin an ordinary person. He hadn't expected, nor was he prepared for, Robin to suddenly strike him on the head in self-defense and to protect Alex. Robin shot the man right in the middle of the head within a minute, and the man collapsed right there.
By now, Nikhil had arrived. The moment Nikhil stepped onto the terrace, his eyes widened in surprise. The man Robin had just killed was standing with his gun aimed at Robin. Before Nikhil could take a step forward, Robin pulled out his gun from behind and shot the man.
Nikhil came to them and said in surprise, "Robin, what have you done? You killed him."
Robin replied, "If I hadn't killed him, he would have killed both of us."
Nikhil looked. The man lay dead on the ground, his eyes wide, blood trickling from his forehead. But the handkerchief on his face was still there. Nikhil slowly went near him, pulled the handkerchief from his face, and in that instant, Nikhil jerked to his feet and, looking at Robin, shouted, "Damn it, look who you killed!"
When Robin looked in that direction at Nikhil's words, his eyes also widened in surprise. The man lying there, who was no longer alive, was Germany's Mafia King and Underworld Don, Samuel.
Samuel needed no introduction. All of Germany and Europe knew that Samuel was involved in illegal work. He even had illegal operations in many countries. Samuel was currently the King of the Mafia. The police and CBI had failed to catch Samuel. And now, he had been killed by a common contract killer with his bullet.
Robin himself felt unwell. He had worked for Samuel many times. Samuel's men had contacted Robin multiple times to contract assassinations, and Robin had charged them a hefty price. But he didn't know that the death of the Underworld King was written by his hands. He was looking at him in surprise. Nikhil quickly came to Robin and said, "Robin, no one is around. Get out of here quickly."
Robin wasn't in a state to think. But Nikhil, sensing the urgency of the situation, quickly grabbed Robin and Alex by their hands and took them away. Both of them were perhaps in shock at this time. Nick decided to drive himself after putting Robin and Alex in the car.
The three of them reached home. As they sat on the sofa, nervousness was evident on all their faces. No matter how many murders Robin had committed, his hands trembled for the first time today. He had killed the Underworld Mafia, Samuel. His heart trembled at the thought.
Nikhil said, "Relax, Robin. Nothing has happened. No one knows about this."
Robin shouted, "Are you out of your mind, Nik? I've killed the Mafia King. Do you even realize that? The entire underworld will be looking for me. Do you even know how big a man he was? How many countries' police were looking for him? And I shot him here in a small restaurant with my ordinary pistol. Do you know how big a deal this is? If those people reach me, they will spray me with bullets."
Robin's words made Alex and Nikhil both afraid. Nikhil thought for a moment and then said to Robin, "Robin, they will only be able to harm you if you've done something wrong. You saw the fight between two factions there. We don't know who the attackers were, and besides us, no one saw you kill Samuel. This means the chances of anyone telling them are very low. But still, they will definitely search for you. Because everyone who died in the firing there will have a bullet inside them. But Samuel's body will have a different bullet. This means they will all suspect. And if they reach you, your fear will be proven right. But before they reach you, you should leave from here."
Robin and Alex were both surprised by Nikhil's words. Robin said, "Are you crazy? Where should I go? This is my home, my country. Where should I go, leaving all this?"
Seeing Robin standing like that, Nikhil also stood up and said, "Hey man, I'm not saying to go forever. Just for a few months. Disappear for 6 months. Come back when things cool down a bit. No one will know. And besides, Robi and Robin are different people. They will search for years. In such a big Germany, they will find millions of Robi and crores of Robin. Just go underground for some time. Leave from here, go somewhere no one knows you. And no one knows about your work."
Robin said irritably, "Where will I go?"
Alex said, "Hey man, what's there to think so much about? It's such a big world, go anywhere. Go to another country. Consider it a vacation."
Robin said, "Man, my mind isn't working. You guys suggest something."
Nikhil said, "I'll get the world map. We'll decide where to send you by looking at it."
Robin and Alex both nodded in agreement. Nikhil went to the drawer and as he opened it to take out the world map, his gaze fell on the pile of bills and documents that they had carelessly stacked after arriving at the house. Actually, Nikhil's eyes fell on an envelope lying amongst the bills and documents, and upon seeing the name printed on it, Nikhil's eyes widened. He picked up the envelope and, looking at Robin, said, "Robin! Do you have any relatives in India?"
Robin is surprised by what Nikhil says, for a moment he doesn't even realize what Nikhil is talking about. He asks:
"In India? No, I don't know anyone there, but why are you asking?"
Nikhil, moving the envelope towards Robin, says: "These documents have come for you from India. They have the seal of the Indian Embassy and the Indian Administration on them."
Robin looks and sees that the envelope indeed has the Indian Embassy's seal and the Indian flag. He says: "I don't know, I didn't even notice it."
Nikhil replies: "If you don't know, let's find out."
Saying this, he tears open one end of the envelope and starts reading the papers inside.
Nikhil looks at Robin and asks: "Does anyone in Kolkata, India, live there? Relatives?"
At the mention of Kolkata, Robin's ears perk up and his eyes widen. He looks at Nikhil with anger and says: "These documents are from Kolkata."
Nikhil confirms: "Yes, these documents have been sent by someone named Somesh Dhar from Kolkata. They are property papers."
Robin asks in surprise: "Property papers? What kind of property?"
Nikhil explains: "I'll tell you everything, but first, tell me, do you know him? Who is he?...and what's your connection to Kolkata? In fact, what's your connection to India?"
Robin sits on the sofa, exhales deeply, and says: "My mom was from Kolkata."
Nikhil and Alex are both surprised by Robin's words. Alex exclaims: "You never told us that Auntie was from India!"
Robin replies: "We were so happy in our little world that we never even mentioned it. That Mom was from India. My mom was from Kolkata, India, and she came to Germany to study. During her studies, she fell in love with my dad, and they got married. My mom knew very well that her family was very strict and wouldn't accept her relationship with my dad. That's why she married my dad without telling anyone. After that, I came into their world. My mom had a hope that even if they were angry with their daughter, perhaps seeing me would soften their hearts. Thinking this, when I was 5 years old, my mom and dad took me to Kolkata. But my mom's family refused to accept her. In fact, they refused to accept me too. They didn't even let my mom into their house. We stayed in Kolkata for 10 days, and during these 10 days, my mom stayed at a friend's house. But they never tried to meet my mom or talk to her. Finally, defeated, my dad brought us all back to Germany, and after that, Mom never mentioned India again, nor did she talk about India. Gradually, I forgot about it, and after Mom and Dad passed away, this became my country."
Everyone is surprised by Robin's story. Then Nikhil, sighing, asks: "Is there any property in Kolkata in your mom's name?"
Robin is a bit taken aback by this question, and Alex is also very surprised. Robin asks in surprise: "Is there any property in my mother's name? Mom never told me about this."
Nikhil shows Robin the papers and says: "Look, these property papers were sent by someone named Somesh Dhar. And you are the nominee. Somesh wants to claim that property. He wants you to sign these property papers and transfer the property to him."
Robin is very surprised. He quickly takes the paper and reads it. The paper stated that the property was in Robin's mother's name, and after her death, it became Robin's property. Robin should transfer the property to Somesh Dhar.
Nikhil asks: "Do you know this Somesh Dhar?" Robin folds the paper and nods, saying: "Yes, I know him. He is my mother's elder brother."
Nikhil and Alex look at Robin in surprise. Robin then says: "My mother loved him very much, respected him greatly, and used to say that no matter what happened in the world, her brother would never leave her side. But when we went to India, he was the first person who pushed my dad away. Do you know, Nik, even after coming from India, my mother used to buy Rakhi for him every year."
Nikhil and Alex both look at Robin. They don't understand the meaning of Rakhi. Robin explains: "In India, there is a festival where a sister ties a bracelet-like thread on her brother's wrist, and the brother promises to protect her. That's called Raksha Bandhan. My mother used to buy Rakhi for her brother every year with the hope that one day her family would accept her back. But they never accepted my mom back. And I had no attachment to them, so I didn't pay much attention to it, and I gradually forgot about it."
Nikhil thinks for a moment and then suddenly says to Robin: "Oh man, isn't this a great thing?"
Robin looks at Nikhil in surprise. Nikhil continues: "Hey man, you have family in India. And besides, you need a place to hide, so you should go to India."
Robin narrows his eyes and says: "Hold on, they are not my family. My relationship with them ended the day my mother left India. And anyway, I went to India when I was 5 years old, only for 10 days. I had even forgotten if I had ever been to India or not. And if I have to go somewhere, why would I go to India? Why not go to some other country? America... I'll go to America, or the UK. England is also a good place. Switzerland or Paris."
Nikhil hits his head and says to Robin: "Are you crazy? Mafia King Samuel has been murdered. The underworld people will be looking for you, and so will the German police. You might escape the underworld for a while, but if you get caught by the police, they won't let you go. And this is your best chance, you'll have a big proof that you are not in Germany but in India. The reason is your property. Look, you go to India, sort out whatever property issues you have. Sell it, give it away, do whatever you want. Just keep yourself busy in India for 3-6 months. Until then, I'll handle things here."
Robin thinks about it. He finds Nikhil's words convincing. If he goes to another country, he might get caught because Samuel was a big mafia gangster, and his connections extended to every country. But in a city like Kolkata in India, Samuel's connections were unlikely. Besides, Robin didn't have any kinship with those people. He would go, sell his share of the property, take the money, and live lavishly. By then, the situation here would have cooled down. Thinking this, Robin nodded in agreement.
Nikhil gets up from his seat and says: "Okay, let's pack your things."
Nikhil looks at Alex and says: "Get his passport."
Robin says: "Yes, okay, I'm ready to go to India, but that doesn't mean I'll go now. I'll go in the morning."
Nikhil insists: "No, not in the morning. You leave now. By morning, Samuel's case will spread like wildfire across Germany. Your danger will increase. So, you leave here right now, so that by morning, you are not even in Germany."
Alex agrees: "Nikhil is right, Robin. You should leave now, it's much better. Because it's very easy for them to reach you. And if you are not here, maybe they will search in big cities. No one would imagine you are in this city in India. So, you will be safe there."
Robin followed his friends' advice and prepared to leave for India at that very moment. Nikhil packed all his necessary belongings, and Alex brought his passport.
Two hours later, Robin was at the German airport with his two friends. Morning was about to break, and India's flight was already on the runway. Robin didn't even have time to say a proper goodbye to his friends because the flight was about to take off.
Robin quickly hugged his friends and told them he would contact them via the internet once he reached there. He explained that if he used his phone, the mafia and the police might get a lead on him.
Robin hurries to his flight and sits down. Nikhil and Alex both watch Robin board the flight through the glass wall.
Nikhil says, "I just pray that nothing goes wrong in India."
Alex, looking at Nikhil, says, "What could go wrong in India? Nothing will happen there. Don't worry."
Nikhil says, "Dude, I belong to India too. You probably don't know India. India isn't just a country; it's an emotion. No matter how successful people become after going abroad... their country's soil draws them back. And if someone is far from that soil, the country still calls them back."
Alex says, "Nice dialogues, but these are all just movie lines. This country, this soil, none of these things will affect Robin."
Nikhil says, "You're right, these things won't affect Robin now. But Robin is going to India now, and when he returns, he will definitely have lost something."
Alex asks, "Why do you say that?"
Nikhil smiles and says, "Alex, India itself is a mystery that no one has been able to solve yet. Think about it, just yesterday Robin was with us. By morning, he didn't even know how his evening would turn out. He thought we'd spend the day together as usual. But look, in just a few moments, the whole world turned upside down, and today Robin is going to India. Yesterday, India wasn't even mentioned. We didn't even know Robin had any property in India, but today we've all come to see Robin off so he can reach India. The truth is, Robin isn't going to India; rather, India has called Robin to itself. Otherwise, think about it, there were so many documents there, why did my eyes only catch the property papers? Because India wanted Robin to reach it."
Alex said in surprise, "But why would India call Robin?"
Nikhil said with a smile, "Only India knows what treasure it has hidden for Robin, for which it had Samuel killed through Robin's hands and made it a way to call him. "
Alex, laughing as he watched the plane take off, said, "Treasure! Well, that's good. When he returns, he'll bring that treasure with him."
Robin's plane took off towards a new destination. He knew where he had to go, but he had no idea what he had to do there.
Nikhil spoke the truth. India has chosen Robin to bring him to itself. It has given him this path. But why? Why does fate want Robin to come to India, and what treasure awaits Robin in India?
Kolkata, West Bengal… Bardhaman City.
Kolkata is not just a state; it's a lifestyle. The people here have their own tastes and creations. Kolkata city was the capital during the British rule. It is still famous worldwide for its art and culture today. Be it Durga Puja or the Howrah Bridge, Kali Puja or Jamai Shashti, Puchka or Rasgulla, Sandesh or Doi Mishti… everything about Kolkata is unique. In Kolkata, the use of trams and hand-pulled carts still reflects the art of staying connected to the ground. At the same time, technology and a love for books teach people the principle of moving forward in life. Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay – these are names that have perhaps become immortal in the pages of history. The national anthem, and even the sweetest spoken language in the world (Bengali), are all gifts of Kolkata.
And in the city of Kolkata, in West Kolkata, in Bardhaman, the current hustle and bustle clearly indicates that Durga Puja is in full swing in Kolkata these days.
Along the banks of the Damodar River in Bardhaman, many mansions still exist that bear witness to their grandeur. Even though the walls have become dilapidated and time has taken away their color, the strength of those mansions still proves the peak of their glory in Kolkata at one time.
There was a lot of commotion coming from one of those mansions. Some girls making rangoli in the courtyard were talking and laughing amongst themselves. Just then, a woman wearing a Bengali saree arrived and, looking at the girls, said, "May Mother Durga bless you! Tell me, the puja is almost here, and your laughter and games haven't stopped. If it continues like this, Mother Durga will think she has arrived at the house of beggars. The decorations aren't even properly done."
Just then, a woman making rangoli in the courtyard looked at her and said, "Oh, Badi Boudi (Eldest Sister-in-law). See, all this decoration will be completed before Durga Maa arrives. And Durga Maa doesn't come to see rangoli; she comes to see the pandal decorations. And you know which pandal is being done."
The woman looked at her with her big eyes and said, "Which pandal is being done for Mother Durga this year?"
Just then, another woman said laughingly, "Bulbul."
Upon hearing the name Bulbul, the woman struck her forehead and exclaimed, "Oh Durga! This girl can barely walk properly, and she's decorating a Durga pandal. Look, she might hurt herself."
Just as the woman spoke, a man entered through the doorway, looking around anxiously and asking, "Where is Badi Boudi? Where is Badi Boudi?"
Badi Boudi waved her hand towards him and said, "Yes, Hari Da, I'm here. Tell me, what happened?"
Hari Da looked at Boudi and said, "Badi Boudi, something has happened to Bulbul. Hurry, let's go."
Hearing this, Badi Boudi's eyes widened in surprise. The girls working in the courtyard also exchanged nervous glances. Badi Boudi quickly ran to Hari Da and said, "Tell me, what happened to Bulbul? Where is she? What happened to her?"
Hari Da gestured and said, "She's at Babuji's house. Hurry!"
Saying this, Hari Da ran out of the doorway. Badi Boudi and another girl followed him. They left their mansion and went to a house two streets away.
This mansion was also quite grand, and its fresh paint suggested the lavish tastes of its inhabitants. Although this mansion was from the British era, it hadn't fallen into disrepair because its generations had maintained it well.
Badi Boudi entered and was so shocked by the crowd in the living hall that she almost stopped breathing. Pushing through the people, she saw a 70-year-old man with a 20-year-old girl lying with her eyes closed in his lap. The girl's face was slightly pale. She was wearing a churidar salwar kameez, and her long, slightly curly hair reached her waist, truly making her resemble a depiction of Durga. Her fluttering eyelids, her nose reddened by a gold nose ring, her thin lips, and her medium build.
Fear was evident on the girl's face. When Boudi saw her, she rushed to her and, taking her hand, said, "Bulbul, Bulbul, dear, what happened to you? Bulbul, dear, wake up."
The 70-year-old elder, who had Bulbul's head in his lap, slowly caressed her hair and said, looking ahead, "Suvarna, Bulbul is fine. She just saw something and fainted out of fear."
The woman sitting in front was Suvarna Chakraborty, Bulbul's mother. Seeing her daughter unconscious, Suvarna became distressed. She quickly looked at Hari Da and said, "Oh Hari Da, why are you standing there? Go quickly and call the doctor!"
Just then, a 26-year-old young man arrived with the doctor. He looked at Suvarna and said, "Kaki Ma, don't worry. I've brought the doctor."
Suvarna stood up, and the elderly man gently placed Bulbul's head on the sofa and stood up. The doctor examined Bulbul and, after giving her an injection, said, "There's nothing to worry about. She fainted due to fear; she'll regain consciousness in a while."
Suvarna sat on the sofa, cradled Bulbul's head in her lap, and massaged her hand, saying, "This girl gets scared by the smallest things. God knows what she saw this time to faint like this."
The young man who brought the doctor sat on another sofa and said, "Kaki Ma, don't worry. She'll regain consciousness soon and will start bothering everyone."
Suvarna smiled at the young man and said, "Aniruddha, with you here, what do I have to worry about? Truly, son, I am so happy that my Bulbul is getting a life partner like you. Otherwise, I would have been worried about my child going to an unknown house and how she would manage. Thinking about that was killing me. But now that Bulbul is going to marry you, and you live nearby, it means my daughter will be within my sight."
Aniruddha nodded with a smile. Aniruddha was about 26 years old and had just been recruited as an IPS officer in Kolkata that year. Upon joining, he had eradicated crime from his area. He had a muscular, fit body, but wasn't overweight. He had a simple face and a gentle personality, always sporting a smile that could captivate anyone.
The 70-year-old man sitting next to Aniruddha was Aniruddha's grandfather and the patriarch of this mansion. His name was Virendra Dhar. Virendra Ji had always prioritized his principles and values. He followed the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, hence his rules were as strict as his. However, his family respected every rule he made. Although Virendra Ji's rules were strict, they were for the well-being of his family.
As they were sitting on the sofa, Virendra Ji reprimanded all the servants, "If you all just sit here looking at people all day, who will prepare for the puja? Go quickly and finish the puja preparations!"
"Tomorrow, Mother Durga is to be brought, and the preparations are still not finished. What are you all doing?"
Hearing their master's scolding, the entire hall was empty within two minutes, and all the servants disappeared.
As they left, a shining car stopped outside the mansion, and its door opened. A 55-year-old man stepped out from one side, and a woman of the same age stepped out from the other. Both entered the house nervously and, approaching the sofa, looked at Suvarna. The woman said, "Badi Didi, what happened to Bulbul? Didi, you don't know, when I heard in the market that Bulbul suddenly fainted, my heart leaped into my mouth. I wonder what this delicate child saw to get scared. 🥺"
Suvarna looked at the woman and smiled, "Nothing, Lata. Bulbul is fine now. Aniruddha brought the doctor, and they've examined her. She'll regain consciousness in a little while."
Lata joined her hands and touched them to her forehead, saying, "Thank God, Durga Ma. I was so scared, Didi."
The man standing next to her said, "Suvarna Didi, I'll inform Harish about this."
Suvarna stopped him, saying, "Oh no, Somen, don't tell them anything about this. If Bulbul's father finds out, he'll be angry with all of us. You know how much he loves Bulbul. He'll think we didn't take good care of her."
Somen said, "Yes, Didi, you're probably right."
Looking at Aniruddha, he said, "Aniruddha, take Bulbul to her room."
Aniruddha stood up from the sofa. He walked towards Bulbul, picked her up in his arms, and headed towards a room. Suvarna and Lata followed him.
Aniruddha laid Bulbul on a bed and stood up. Just then, a girl ran into the room and said upon seeing Aniruddha, "Dada, what happened to Bulbul?"
Suvarna, who was sitting at Bulbul's head, said, "Nothing, Pakhi. She fainted." Pakhi is Aniruddha's younger sister and the daughter of Somen and Lata.
Pakhi took Bulbul's hand and said, "Bulbul, wake up. 🥺"
Aniruddha placed his hand on Pakhi's shoulder and said, "Pakhi, don't worry. She'll regain consciousness in a little while."
After a while, Bulbul's eyes fluttered, and she regained consciousness. Everyone was happy to see her awake. But Bulbul suddenly sat up and started panting heavily. Suvarna was surprised to see her like this and looked at Bulbul, saying, "Bulbul, what happened, dear?"
Bulbul looked at her mother with a tearful expression and said, 🥺 "Mama, do you know what happened there? That cat... That cat was perfectly fine yesterday, Mama, but now it's dead. Do you know, Mama? Blood was coming from its paw. A lot of blood was coming out. 🥺"
Bulbul began to cry, clinging to her mother like a small child. Her mother was surprised. She pulled Bulbul away and said, "Bulbul, what are you saying? Which cat?"
Bulbul said, "In the garden behind, right? There was a cat there, which was fine yesterday, but now it's dead. Someone killed it, and there was a lot of blood flowing."
Anirudh picked up a glass of water kept beside him and said, his voice rising like a bulbul’s, “Bulbul, don’t worry, some wild animal must have killed it. I’ll tell Hari bhai; he’ll look into it.”
Bulbul said, “But Anirudh, there was so much blood. I don’t like blood. That blood was so dirty, and the cat died. 😢”
Suvarna ji held Bulbul’s hand in hers and said, “Beta, look, living and dying is the way of life. Whoever comes has to go. And what has happened to you? Why do you get so hyper seeing blood or death? You know, seeing all these things makes you feel unwell.”
Bulbul, crying and sobbing, looked at her mother and said, “Mom, what can I do? Whenever I see someone’s blood, I get very nervous, and somehow I fall to the ground. Mom, I don’t know… I really don’t like seeing anyone’s blood, seeing anyone dead. 🥺”
Suvarna ji hugged Bulbul and started stroking her.
Grandfather looked at everyone and said, “All of you go to your rooms. Suvarna is with Bulbul; she’ll look after her.”
As per grandfather’s words, everyone went to their rooms one by one. Suvarna ji started to console Bulbul.
Somen entered his room and started taking off his coat. Lata helped him with his coat.
Lata, while folding Somen’s coat, said, “Look at this! Is this even a proper thing? If she just sees a little blood, this girl faints. How will she manage the household in the future?”
Somen, getting angry at Lata’s words, said, “Lata, be sensible. The child was so scared, and we all know from childhood how afraid Bulbul is of blood. Yet, you’re asking this. Don’t forget that Bulbul and Anirudh’s wedding is in a few days, and don’t do anything foolish, Lata.”
Lata, tying a key in the pallu of her saree and letting it hang on her shoulder, said, “Well, why would I say anything? Anyway, it’s Baba’s decision to make Bulbul the daughter-in-law of this house. And have we ever been able to say anything against Baba’s decision? Everyone has always followed Baba’s decisions, whether it’s the decision of Bulbul and Anirudh’s marriage, or Pakhi’s decision to study in Delhi, or even the decision for Ronita.”
Hearing the name Ronita, Somen’s expression hardened. He looked at Lata angrily and said, “Lata, what nonsense are you talking? And where did Ronita come from? How many times have I told you, Lata, not to mention Ronita’s name. If Baba hears, there will be an uproar.”
Lata, making a face, said, “Yes, brother… everything is done by your sister. And Baba will hear about me. I didn’t tell your sister to go abroad to study and marry some foreigner. Your sister herself came back with a child.”
Somen quickly went to Lata and, holding her by the arm, shook her and said, “Don’t talk like a madwoman, Lata. If you don’t know anything, don’t say anything.”
Lata quickly pulled her arm away and, looking at Somen angrily, said, “Yes, yes, I’ve done everything, haven’t I? I wasn’t even here, so how would I know why you and Baba threw your sister out of the house? And didn’t even adopt her child. Did I say to do all this? And now, after so many years, you’re taking out your anger on me.”
Somen said angrily, “It’s useless talking to you. And don’t you dare say this in front of anyone in the house.”
Saying this, Somen left the room. Lata looked at the door with anger, and then quickly went to her room’s window. She first opened the window and then looked at the ruined mansion attached to her mansion, which was now ruins and stones.
The other part attached to this mansion, which was completely dilapidated. Lata looked at the ruins angrily and said, “I won’t let all this go from my hands so easily. Just once this half of the mansion is in our name, then everything will be my Anirudh’s. When I found out that Baba had kept the property in his daughter’s name, I was very angry. But I couldn’t do anything at that time.
Then I found out that Ronita was dead. That’s when a hope arose that this property would now go to my Anirudh. But that Ronita had left her son behind and made Ronita’s son a shareholder of another part of this mansion. But it’s okay, my years of effort haven’t gone to waste. Finally, I found out where Ronita’s son is. Deceptively, I got Somen’s signature and sent him the property papers. Anyway, he’s never going to India, so he won’t claim this property.
He, who has never come to India in so many years, will he come to India for a property? And besides, he probably has more property in his country than this.
Once this half of the property is in my son’s name, then watch how I make this father and daughter dance.”
And that Bulbul… I don’t know what magic she’s cast on her whole family. Whenever you see them, they’re always praising her. Such a coward.
Kazi Nazrul Islam International Airport, – Bardhaman.
Robin’s flight had just landed at Bardhaman Airport. Robin came out of the airport with his luggage. His eyes were filled with sadness at this moment, and he was looking out at India with a stern gaze.
Robin was sitting in a taxi at that time, he had been sitting in the taxi for the last one and a half hours. Today, Durga Ma's idols were being taken from place to place, small Durga, big Durga, and such huge Durga whose size could not even be estimated. Robin was looking out of the window with amazement, so many idols of Durga Mata.
He didn't know much about the culture here, but he could figure out that there must be some function or festival here. But he didn't know which festival it was. He was just watching all those Durga Mata idols pass by in front of him with surprise.
Robin saw that there was such a huge crowd of people here, it was impossible to tell if cars were moving on the road or people. It seemed as if the taxi Robin was in was moving through the people. Robin said angrily to the driver...
"What nonsense...🤨."
The Bengali driver understood by looking at Robin that he must be a foreigner who had come here for a tour. He turned back, looked at Robin, and said...
"Dada, it's time for Puja, na... so there are many people...
You know... Puja... Festival... Kolkata big festival...
Name Durga Puja... so people came together..."
The poor driver didn't know if he was speaking Hindi, English, or Bengali.
Hearing the driver's mixed language, Robin hit his head. He just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. He had never seen such a crowd in his life. Even in Russia, when there was a festival, there wasn't such a crowd...
Except for Christmas and Easter. And on both these festivals, Robin was busy with his work, so he had never encountered such a crowd.
But Robin felt strange in the narrow lanes of Kolkata. He couldn't believe that so many people could be in such a small lane. It felt as if the entire Kolkata had come into this lane.
Meanwhile, at Bulbul's house...
Durga Ma had been welcomed. The pandal was decorated very beautifully, and everyone was getting a glimpse of the divine idol of Durga Ma.
Bulbul and Pakhi were standing aside. Pakhi was taking photos of the idol of Durga Ma with her phone.
Just then, Aniruddha walked past. Pakhi stopped Aniruddha and said, "Dada, wait na."
Aniruddha stopped, and Pakhi said, "Dada, you and Bulbul are getting married in a few days... and I don't have a single picture of you two. Won't you two stand together? I will take a very lovely picture of you both."
Hearing this, both Bulbul and Aniruddha were surprised. Aniruddha said, "Pakhi, what childishness is this?
And don't you have Bulbul's picture?"
Pakhi said, "Dada, I have Bulbul's picture, but I don't have a picture of you and Bulbul. Won't you two stand together? I want to take a picture of you both."
Aniruddha took a deep breath and stood with Bulbul. Bulbul started avoiding his gaze and looked around uncomfortably.
Aniruddha recognized Bulbul's nervousness, so he moved a little away from Bulbul. Pakhi took their picture and said, "My goodness, who would say by looking at you two that you are getting married in a few days? At least stand together like a couple. Why are you standing so far apart?"
Aniruddha said somewhat angrily, "If you want to take a picture, take it like this. Otherwise, I'm leaving. It's Puja time anyway, and I have very little time."
Pakhi said, "Okay, okay! I'm taking it."
Pakhi took their picture in the same way, but in the picture, they didn't look like they were standing together at all.
Aniruddha left, and Bulbul nudged Pakhi's shoulder and said, "What was the need to call Aniruddha?"
Pakhi sighed and said to Bulbul, "Bulbul, you, me, and Dada! We three spent our childhood together. That's why I know you well, and I know my brother well too. I can see in both your eyes... neither Dada loves you, nor do you love Dada.
You are both getting married just because Dada wants it, right? Because he just wants you both to get married.
I've seen you both since childhood. You've never sat down and talked properly. How will you spend your lives after getting married?"
Bulbul said, "What difference does it make? Anyway, Daddu must have thought something before arranging my and Aniruddha's relationship. And besides, it's better to come to your house than to go to a stranger's house. At least I know you all. And I know Aniruddha too. Then, as for love, love happens gradually in arranged marriages."
Pakhi shook her head and said, "Even though you are my childhood friend, and Aniruddha is my brother, I still say that the two of you don't seem like a match at all."
Bulbul nudged Pakhi's shoulder and said, "Shut up, if anyone hears, there will be trouble."
Pakhi started laughing, and Bulbul said, "Come on, it's getting evening. Anyway, the dance performance this evening is by both of us."
Pakhi said with a pout, "Yes, I know the dance performance is by both of us... but who is here to watch me? Everyone has come here to watch your dance."
Bulbul and Pakhi left laughing and started practicing their dance.
It was evening, and the first aarti of Maa Durga had been performed.
And now everyone was waiting for Bulbul's dance performance.
Aniruddha was sitting with his family on one side. Lata was sitting there forcibly because Aniruddha's grandfather was sitting there, and Lata couldn't say anything in front of him.
Suvarna and Hari Da were welcoming the guests and overseeing the rest of the puja preparations. Just then, the lights in the center of the hall lit up. 10 to 15 dancers came there with diyas in their hands.
And a song started playing in the background.
"The season has stretched, arrived, arrived
The rain has spread and showered again, showered, showered
A gust of wind will come, and this lamp will be extinguished."
Just then, a light focused on the center, and Bulbul, in a red Bengali sari, with her hair down, a red bindi on her forehead, and thick kohl in her eyes, holding a diya in her hands, entered.
"This chain of desire, I did not let it extinguish
Oh,
This chain of desire, I did not let it extinguish
Oh, beloved, this lamp
Will not extinguish, nor will it be extinguished. My desire's lamp
My beloved, come now, my beloved
Oh, my beloved, come now, my beloved
My body and soul are burning with this lamp
And my life, come now, my beloved
Oh, my beloved, come now, my beloved."
Just then, Robin's taxi stopped outside the lane. He got out of the taxi and saw such a huge crowd in the sparkling light of the small lane. Robin showed a paper to a passerby and asked for the address. The person pointed him towards the house where a pandal was decorated with lights at that moment.
Robin picked up his bag and started walking towards the house.
"There was distance, there was separation, there was an atmosphere of longing
Eyes were waiting, and you were there
You were there, you were there, shimmering, shining
Rejoicing in happiness
And here we were burning
And here we were burning."
Aniruddha's eyes were on Bulbul. Bulbul was dancing with complete abandon.
And outside in the lane, Robin was slowly making his way through the crowd towards that house from where the tune of the song was reaching his ears.
"Clouds have thundered again
They have rained with thunder
The storm has come with a sway
But it could not extinguish you
Oh, beloved, this lamp
No matter how much this monsoon bothers you
This wind and these lightning bolts
My beloved, come now, my beloved
Oh, my beloved, come now, my beloved.
Just then, all the girls who were dancing with Bulbul came with trays of sindoor in their hands and started whirling around Bulbul, causing the sindoor placed on the tray to fly in the air.
"Look at this mad, crazy one
She is unaware of the world
A gust of wind will come
And will bring her beloved
Oh, beloved."
While dancing, Bulbul suddenly became nervous seeing so much red color flying around her. She felt that it was not the red color of sindoor but the red color of blood.
Robin also pushed through the crowd and entered the pandal. In the courtyard, he saw a dance performance going on, but only red sindoor was flying there. Robin walked slowly to the center of the courtyard. He didn't realize when he reached here.
"Come now, my beloved
This chain of desire, I did not let it extinguish from my heart
Oh, beloved, this lamp
This chain of desire, I did not let it extinguish from my heart.
Bulbul, who was spinning in the middle of the dance performance, felt dizzy looking at the red color and suddenly fainted.
"Oh, beloved, this lamp
Oh, beloved, beloved, beloved."
Robin and Bulbul were standing in the middle of that color at that moment. As Bulbul was spinning, she reached Robin, and when Robin saw a girl about to fall, he quickly caught her.
Bulbul had fainted and was swinging in Robin's arms. The sindoor flying in the air was scattering over Robin and Bulbul like colors at that moment.
No response from Groq.
The whole family was staring at Robin with anger, but Robin didn't seem to care about their gaze. However, Suvarna was looking at Robin with a lot of emotion. Even though she hadn't recognized Robin at first glance, as soon as he introduced himself and mentioned where he was from, Suvarna didn't take more than a minute to realize that he was her childhood friend Roni's son.
Suvarna's heart was aching to run to Robin and hug him tightly, but with the big babu and everyone else present, she couldn't do that. She was certainly looking at Robin with her affectionate eyes.
The big babu, while looking at Robin with anger, said, "Boy, whatever your name is, you don't seem to belong to us, and you have no relation to this house. We ended our relationship with your mother years ago, and we can't give shelter to some unknown boy in our house. This is a house of daughters and daughters-in-law."
Robin glared at the big babu and said, "Did I say I came to make any relationship with you people or to live here? No, I don't need your relationship or your house. I'll figure out where to stay on my own."
As Robin was about to pick up his bag and leave, Suvarna quickly said, "Baba, wasn't the old mansion Roni's? So, in a way, it's now her son's. And if he wants, he can live in his mother's mansion."
After hearing Suvarna's words, Robin raised an eyebrow and looked at her. Suvarna just wanted Robin not to have to face difficulties anywhere. Because the big babu was well-known in the entire neighborhood, and if anyone found out about Robin, no one would give him a place to stay. Suvarna's heart was filled with love for Robin, and she wanted to keep him in her own house. But she knew she couldn't do that because it would affect Anirudh and Bulbul's relationship.
So, she had deliberately said that in front of everyone to help Robin. The big babu, while looking at Suvarna with anger, said, "Suvarna, what are you saying? How can this boy live there?"
Suvarna said, "Why not, Baba? That house was Roni's, wasn't it? You let it become a ruin just because of your relationship with her. Since you have no relationship with that house, with Roni, or with her son, what's the difference to you if he lives there or in that ruin? Let him stay."
The big babu picked up his stick, sat on the chair, and said, "What do we care? Neither was that house ours, nor did we ever consider it ours. If someone lives there, it's their choice. But he should always remember that he has no relationship with this house or its people."
Robin knew the big babu was saying this to him, and a sly smile appeared on his face. He picked up his bag and looked at Suvarna and said, "Thank you, beautiful lady."
A faint smile appeared on Suvarna's face, which she quickly hid.
Robin left the mansion and came to the back, where the ruined mansion was. The crumbling walls, broken ceiling, and wild grass and weeds growing all over the lawn made it uninhabitable. But Robin had no other place to go.
He crushed the wild grass with his shoes and entered the mansion. The door was just hanging on the door with a lock; one kick and the door broke.
As Robin entered, his eyes widened. The whole hall was filled with liquor and beer bottles, indicating that the local addicts would come here and make their den.
Robin looked at the ruined mansion, which must have been very beautiful at one time. The chandelier hanging from the ceiling, half-broken but still hanging, indicated that it was very valuable. The sofas in the hall were covered in dust, but their design showed that they were very luxurious.
The walls were covered in dust, but expensive paintings were still visible. The antique pieces and showpieces were priceless. Many things were such that Robin had seen them in auctions, but here they were covered in dust and cobwebs, worth only two rupees.
If this mansion had been maintained properly, it would have been famous worldwide.
As Robin was looking at the ruined mansion in amazement, he heard a woman's voice from behind.
Roni was very fond of interior decoration and often decorated her mansion with various things.
Robin turned around and saw Suvarna standing at the door.
Robin looked at Suvarna in surprise and said, "Who are you?"
No response from Groq.
Hari Da and a servant had done some cleaning of the house. Though, even with the cleaning they had done, the house was still dirty. However, they had completely cleaned one room. This was Ronita's room.
Since Ronita's old school photos and some college photos were here, Robin felt very good coming into this room. It felt as if he had come to his mother's side.
Suvarna Ji had sent some food for Robin through Hari Da. When Robin saw it, it was Indian food. Although he had eaten Indian food before,
Because as long as Ronita was alive, she often made Indian food for Robin, and potato parathas had always been Robin's favorite. But after Ronita's departure, all this had become merely a taste in Robin's mouth.
And after so many years, today a plate of Indian food was placed before him. Dal, rice, vegetables, and chicken.
(Non-vegetarian food is always included in Bengali cuisine.)
Normally, people mix dal and rice and eat it, but Robin was from Germany. How would he know how to mix dal and rice? He first ate rice with a spoon and then drank the dal like water.
After eating, Robin said, "It was strange, but good."
Robin picks up a picture of his mother and sits on the bed with it. Staring at his mother's school picture, he doesn't even realize when he falls asleep.
The next morning...
Bulbul had regained consciousness during the night and had returned home. She was sleeping spread out in her room at home, her mouth open and drooling.
Bulbul was sleeping on her bed in a strange and peculiar way, like a small child. Suvarna Ji was in the kitchen at this time, as it was Durga Puja time, so she had a lot of work.
She wanted to wake up early and make some breakfast for Robin, so that she could send this breakfast to Robin before everyone woke up, and no one would know that Suvarna Ji was helping Robin.
Suvarna Ji watches as people slowly start coming to the pandal and offering prayers to Goddess Durga. Suvarna Ji was looking for Hari Da, but perhaps Hari Da was at the Big Master's house at this time.
Suvarna Ji became worried. No one was visible nearby. Now, through whom would she send this breakfast?
Then she thought of Bulbul. Anyway, even if someone from the Big Master's family saw Bulbul, they wouldn't question her because everyone knew how much the Big Master loved Bulbul.
So she went to Bulbul's room. Placing the tiffin on the table, she looked at Bulbul, who was hanging off the bed with both hands spread out in Shah Rukh Khan's style.
Suvarna Ji hit her forehead and said, "What can I expect from this crazy girl? She's getting married in a few days. I agree the marriage is happening by leaving two homes, but it is still her in-laws' house. No matter how much Lata Behen Ji talks about keeping her like a bird, I also know that a daughter-in-law is a daughter-in-law, and a daughter is a daughter. How many times have I told her to sleep properly."
Saying this, Suvarna went to Bulbul and lifting her, said, "Bulbul, wake up, see it's morning. Guests have started arriving at the pandal, and you are still sleeping with your legs spread out. What will Goddess Durga say if she sees? I sent a girl who looked good, but she turned out to be a monkey with her antics."
Hearing her mother's scolding early in the morning, Bulbul woke up with drowsy eyes. After sitting up on the bed, she stretched with a big yawn and said, "What happened, Mother! Goddess Durga has no complaints with me. She is my best friend. All the complaints and worries are yours."
Suvarna brought Bulbul's dupatta and placing it on her shoulder, said, "I know how well you and Goddess Durga get along. Come on, wake up quickly, and take this tiffin to the old mansion."
Bulbul woke up from her sleep and putting on her slippers, took the tiffin from the table. But before she could move towards the door, her eyes snapped open, and in a minute, all her sleep vanished. She turned and looked at her mother with surprise and said, "Where do I have to deliver this tiffin?"
Suvarna adjusted the sheet and pillow on Bulbul's bed and said, "Are you deaf? I'm telling you, you have to deliver it to the old mansion."
Bulbul said, "Mother, do I have to leave food for ghosts in the old mansion? Who is there for whom I am sending food?"
Suvarna said to Bulbul, "There is someone! And who it is, you don't need to know. You just have to deliver this tiffin to the old mansion and give it to whoever is there."
Before Bulbul could ask any more questions or say anything, someone from outside called out to Suvarna Ji. Suvarna Ji left the room. Bulbul looked at the tiffin in her hand with surprise and said, "Who is in the old mansion for whom Mother is sending tiffin?"
Before Bulbul could ask any more questions or ask him anything, someone from outside called out to Suvarna ji. Suvarna ji left the room. Bulbul looked at the tiffin in her hand with surprise, saying, "Who is in the old mansion for whom Mother is sending a tiffin."
After being troubled by her own questions for a while, Bulbul shrugged and said, "What's it to me! Mother has given me a task, I have to do it."
Thinking this, Bulbul connected her Bluetooth to her phone and put the Bluetooth in her ear, then left her house. Upon reaching the pandal, she first joined her hands and offered her morning greetings to Durga Maa. Then, she left the house.
As Bulbul was crossing her street towards the old mansion, her friend Aashi called her phone.
Holding the phone in one hand and the tiffin in the other, Bulbul was talking to Aashi as she walked towards the old mansion.
"Yes Aashi, how are you! You didn't come to the puja. Pakhi and I were waiting for you."
Aashi replied from the other side, "Oh, what can I say, girl. There was such a crowd during the puja, no train or bus was on time. I just reached the station. I'll be at your house in an hour."
Aashi was actually Pakhi's college friend, who had become friends with them from Delhi itself. But she had also become very good friends with Bulbul. While talking on the phone, they had become very good friends.
Aashi was in Kolkata during the puja, and she was supposed to leave only after Bulbul's wedding.
Bulbul was so engrossed in her conversation with Aashi that she didn't even notice when she reached the old mansion. Half the wild grass and weeds had been cleared and tidied, but some parts of the garden still had wild grass growing.
As Bulbul moved forward, talking to Aashi and clearing the grass and weeds, her foot got caught in something, and she was about to fall to the ground.
Robin was lying on the ground. Seeing Bulbul about to fall, he caught her, and Bulbul fell directly onto Robin's chest.
Actually, Robin was exercising in the garden, doing push-ups. Then, for a moment, he felt as if someone had entangled his leg. He lay on his back and looked, and saw Bulbul falling right on top of him.
The tiffin fell to one side, and the phone to the other. Bulbul's head hit Robin's broad chest. As she collided with his chest, as hard as iron, Bulbul rubbed her forehead and looked up at Robin.
Robin was looking at Bulbul's big eyes with his brown eyes, and Bulbul was blinking her large eyelids, looking into Robin's brown eyes.
Bulbul had the Bluetooth in her ears, through which Aashi's voice was coming repeatedly, but seeing the attraction of Robin's face, Bulbul was completely mesmerized.
Robin glared at Bulbul. His entire body was drenched in sweat at that moment. He wanted to put his hand on Bulbul's shoulder and get her off him...
But Bulbul had as if placed her entire body's weight on Robin's chest. Robin glared at Bulbul and said, "Excuse me."
Only then did Bulbul come to her senses and look. She realized she was lying on Robin's chest like a snake. She quickly got up and stood. Robin also stood up in front of her. Bulbul's eyes widened in surprise upon seeing Robin, because Robin was only wearing red boxers at that moment. He was wearing nothing else.
Bulbul just stared at Robin, her eyes wide open. His steel-like strong chest, his biceps, and the tattoos on them – they were simply astonishing. Robin didn't look Indian from any angle. From his body structure to his face, everything looked foreign.
Looking at Robin's red boxers, Bulbul said, "Superman."
Aashi replied from the other side, "What are you saying! Who is Superman?"
Bulbul looked at Robin with a stern gaze and said, "Superman is standing in front of me right now. In red underwear."
Aashi said in surprise, "Superman! Have you lost your mind? Doesn't Superman have any other work? Has he taken the contract to save the entire world? And leaving all that work, he'll stand in front of you."
Bulbul, looking at Robin, said, "He is standing."
Aashi said laughingly, "Look carefully! It must be some junk dealer, not Superman. You're probably still sleepy, that's why you're seeing Superman."
Bulbul said, "Shut up, he's not a junk dealer, he's Superman. The way Superman has a broad chest and looks foreign, he also has a broad chest. And if you see his biceps, you'll faint. What strong shoulders he has. And he looks no less than a hero in terms of personality."
Aashi said, "Have you lost your mind? You're praising his body right in front of him. Look, he must be intimidating you with his gaze, and in the next moment, he'll abuse you."
Bulbul looked into Robin's eyes and said. "He is intimidating me. But he can't abuse me, because he doesn't look Indian. He looks foreign, so he probably didn't understand what I said. He wouldn't know Hindi, would he?"
Aashi said, "🤨..."
Bulbul: "😵"
Bubbles runs quickly towards her home. She rushes to her room and places her hand on her chest to calm her beating heart. Ashi had cut off the call midway, but Bubbles' anxiety increased as she saw Robin. Ironically, she praised Robin's body parts, thinking he might not understand Hindi. However, Robin's excellent Hindi left Bubbles flustered. She recalls Robin telling her that he understands Hindi. Standing before him, Robin approaches Bubbles, bends over, and gazes into her eyes, saying, "Not everything that shines is gold, and not every foreigner is from abroad. As for Hindi, I think I can speak well enough for the person in front of me to understand."
Bubbles mutters, "Ma... Ma... Ma... sent breakfast in the tiffin." She quickly leaves the place, prompting Robin to smile and shake his head, calling her "Silly Girl."
At home, Bubbles thinks about Robin. Hari Da comes to clean her room and informs her that Robin (Ronita's son) has arrived. Bubbles is surprised and inquires about Ronita. Hari Da explains that Ronita married a foreigner while studying in Germany and was disowned by her family. After her death, her son returned to claim his rightful share of the property.
Bubbles listens intently to Hari Da's story. Later, her mother calls her, saying a friend (Ashi) is waiting downstairs. Bubbles rushes down to meet Ashi, who is standing in the courtyard, looking at the Durga statue.
Bubbles and Ashi are overjoyed to meet. Bubbles takes Ashi to her room and asks about her journey. Ashi teases Bubbles about "Superman" (Robin), wanting to see him. Bubbles blushes and playfully scolds Ashi. Ashi jestingly says she wants to see if her "Superman" lives up to Bubbles' descriptions.
Bubbles recalls Robin and smiles, describing him to Ashi as handsome, tall, and broad-chested, with unusual hair but a fitting suit and mesmerizing brown eyes. Ashi teases Bubbles about having a crush on Robin, calling him "her Superman." Bubbles blushes, and Ashi jokingly says she might end up being Robin's "superwoman" if Bubbles gets married soon.
Upon hearing Ashi say this, Bulbul suddenly remembers that her wedding rituals are indeed set to begin after the Durga Visarjan. With her wedding to Aniruddha just a few days away, how could she possibly be thinking about Robin?
Aniruddha and Bulbul grew up together since childhood, but Bulbul had never spoken directly to Aniruddha until today. She always felt something uncomfortable around him and had kept her distance from him from the start.
However, she had met Robin for the first time, and in that very first meeting, she was so attracted to his personality that she started praising him to her friend. Although she had never even mentioned Aniruddha to Ashi, it was Pakhi who had always told Ashi about Aniruddha.
Bulbul, Pakhi, and Ashi were all participating in the puja together today, but Bulbul’s attention kept drifting towards the door. She felt as if Robin would surely come to the puja; her heart yearned to see Robin once more.
Meanwhile, Robin, dressed in simple jeans and a simple shirt, left the old mansion and came to the market. He stopped in front of a shop and asked, "Do you have cigarettes?"
The shopkeeper, seeing Robin, a foreigner, was a bit surprised. But then he replied, "Yes, we do! Which one do you want?"
Robin mentioned the brand he used in Germany. Hearing the name of a different brand, the shopkeeper exclaimed in surprise, "Oh, dear, what brand is that? That brand isn't available here."
Robin then said, "Okay, fine. Which is the most expensive brand here?"
The shopkeeper was a little surprised to hear this. He quickly told Robin the most expensive brand available there. Robin bought the whole packet because he didn't want to keep making trips to the shop. Besides, he hadn't come here just for sightseeing.
Robin lit a cigarette in front of the shop, exhaling the smoke into the air. Just then, his gaze fell on the other end of the street, where Bade Babu and Soumen were standing at that moment.
Bade Babu and Soumen were looking at Robin with anger. But Robin didn't react much upon seeing them. They didn't even know why those two were glaring at him at that moment.
Robin, watching the smoke from his cigarette dissipate into the air, turned and headed back towards the old mansion.
Robin left, but Bade Babu watched him go in anger and said to Soumen, "These are the values. When you live with family, you get values. Otherwise, blood will show its effect. Have you ever seen Aniruddha with paan, bidis, and cigarettes like this? We raised Aniruddha with such values that he doesn't even talk loudly in front of us. And this boy was blowing cigarette smoke as if he were inflating balloons."
Soumen said, "Baba, please let it go. Why are you burning with anger over that boy? Look, it's the festive season. And anyway, that boy said he'll be leaving here in a few days."
Bade Babu said angrily, "It's better if he leaves. I don't know why he came here. If he hadn't come for so many years, what is he here to get now? If it's about the mansion, he could have just asked. We sold the mansion and sent him all the money. But what was the need for him to show his face?"
After Bade Babu spoke, Soumen started thinking. What Baba said is indeed true. Why did Robin suddenly come here, and where did he get those papers? I never signed any such papers, so how did my signatures end up on those papers? And the matter of wanting Ronita's mansion for Aniruddha – no one in our family even thought of this, so who dared to do it? I need to find out, because someone from within our own house is plotting to destroy our home.
Robin had returned to the old mansion, but he was no longer feeling at ease. He urgently needed to speak to someone in Germany. He wanted to talk to Nikhil and Alex to find out what the situation was like there, but he had neither a phone nor a number here.
He also didn't have enough money to buy a new phone and number, as the Indian currency he received at the airport in exchange for German money was limited.
Robin decided that the first thing he would do was talk to Nikhil and ask him to transfer some money to his account so that he could convert it into Indian Rupees here.
Robin left the house and searched for an ISD booth somewhere to make a call to Germany. But the problem was that since mobile phones came into existence, ISD booths for international calls had become very scarce.
Robin kept searching for an ISD booth and ended up in the market.
At that very moment, Bulbul and Ashi had also come to the market.
Bulbul and Robin were in the same market. Because it was puja time, the market was very crowded. Finally, Robin found an ISD booth and went there to call Nikhil first.
Bulbul had come to the market with Aashi and Pakhi. Pakhi needed to buy some items for a wedding.
Bulbul and Aashi wanted to eat golgappas (panipuri). They were walking around the market. On the other side, Robin was at an ISD booth, and he dialed Nikhil's number.
It was afternoon in India, which meant it was evening in Germany. Nikhil picked up the phone after two rings because the Indian number flashing on his phone made him recognize that it had to be Robin calling him.
Nikhil quickly answers the phone and says, "Robin, did you reach there? Is everything okay?"
Robin replies, "Yes, everything is fine here. I have reached, and my accommodation has also been arranged."
Nikhil says, "Well, that's good news."
Robin asked, "So, what's the atmosphere like there?"
Nikhil says, "It's heated. News of Samuel's murder has spread like wildfire across Germany. Every newspaper and TV channel is reporting about it. Some people say that Samuel was probably killed by another gang, while others believe a political power took his life. Some news channels are even showing that a new gang is behind Samuel's murder. Everyone is creating their own stories.
But the biggest thing is that the Russian mafia is investigating this case in their own way. They are absolutely convinced that Samuel's death is not ordinary. Robin, you left at the right time, or you would have been caught. Because the Russian mafia is catching every contract killer and gangster, big or small, whom they suspect even a little, and even those whom they don't suspect at all.
People have been apprehended not just from Germany but also from Denmark, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Switzerland. The Russian mafia is searching for Samuel's killer in a very dangerous manner.
So, it's in your best interest to stay hidden as much as possible. And don't try to call again because just yesterday we saw some people from the Russian mafia in our area.
Robin, panicking, asks, "Are you guys okay?"
Nikhil says, "Yes, we are fine. But the way they were roaming in this area, I don't feel right about it. I'm saying it's better if you don't call from here. Only call if it's absolutely necessary."
Robin closes his eyes and grits his teeth, saying, "One mistake has put us all in such a situation. Okay, I'll call only if it's very important, and I'll try not to contact you. But before I hang up, one thing: send some money to my account. Expenses are very high here."
Nikhil says, "Okay, we'll send 1 million euros to your account. Buy only what you need there, as you haven't brought anything with you. And what happened to that property of yours?"
Robin says, "Yes, that property is in my mother's name, and my mother's family has disowned me. Anyway, I don't care about them. I'll meet a property dealer here in a day or two and sell that old mansion. I'll take whatever money I get from it and move to another city. I think Mumbai would be a better option."
Nikhil says, "Okay, then go to Mumbai. I have a friend in Mumbai whom I know. I'll tell him you're coming. Inform me once before you come."
Robin says "Okay" and hangs up. Robin pays the call bill.
On the other side, Bulbul and her friends were still wandering in the market. Pakhi says, "Come on, I can't find an orange dupatta."
Aashi says, "What's wrong with you guys? We've been walking around here for so long. I'm hungry. You guys said you'd treat us to panipuri... treat us already."
Pakhi says, "Yes, let's go to the store ahead. We'll get the dupatta first, then eat panipuri."
As they were moving forward, Bulbul's slipper got stuck in something and broke. Bulbul looks at her slipper and says, "Damn it, it broke again."
Pakhi stares at Bulbul and says, "A hundred misers must have died for you to be born. Oh, you silly girl, you've been wearing these slippers for the last two years. Give them a funeral now; they're saying they're dead. There are more stitches than designs in these slippers."
Bulbul says, "How can I leave these slippers?"
"I bought them for a whole 200 rupees from the Sunday market. And they've only lasted 2 years. They'll last 2 more years. You guys go to the dupatta shop; I'll get these slippers stitched."
Pakhi grabs Aashi's hand and says, "There needs to be some space in the slippers for stitching."
Pakhi pulls Aashi by the hand to the dupatta shop, and Bulbul goes to a cobbler sitting at the corner of the market to get her slippers stitched.
Two boys sitting on bikes on the side see Bulbul and say, "Hey man, beautiful girls' feet don't belong on the ground."
The second boy says, "Yes man, if it were up to me, I'd become her slippers."
The first boy shamelessly says, "Hey man, if we can't become slippers, so what? Wearing slippers on her feet is also a big deal."
Bulbul got angry. By now, the cobbler had finished stitching Bulbul's slippers and handed them back to her.
Bulbul takes the slippers in her hands and, looking at those boys, shakes her slippers and says,
"I don't know about wearing slippers, but you guys are definitely doing the job of eating them."
Even these sharp words from Bulbul sounded like sweet honey, as her tongue was so sweet.
"Those boys took Bulbul's statement as a joke and said, "Hey, even eating slippers from your hands is a big deal."
Bulbul brings a long smile to her face and says, "If that's the case, I'll fulfill your wish too."
Saying this, Bulbul throws her slipper at that boy! And Bulbul's slipper lands directly on the boy's face.
Those boys didn't expect Bulbul to do something like that. They look at Bulbul with anger.

Robin wasn't used to Indian food, and certainly not to eating outside. After eating street food, Robin's stomach started to ache slightly.
Robin held his stomach and paced back and forth, saying, "Man, how can these Indian people eat so much chili and spice? I think I really need to go to the restroom."
Thinking this, Robin went into the room and headed for his bathroom. But as soon as he opened the bathroom door, his eyes widened in disbelief. Robin pinched his nose, returned to the room, and exclaimed, "Yuck!"
Robin felt like throwing up at the sight of the toilet. In fact, the toilet had overflowed, and dirty sewer water had spread throughout the bathroom. Since the toilet in the old mansion hadn't been used for years, it was bound to be clogged with debris. The servant sent by Suvarna Ji had managed to clean the toilet somehow, but the overflow had caused sewer water to spread all over it.
A terrible stench was coming from the toilet, and Robin couldn't even stand there.
Robin quickly pinched his nose, went to the toilet, and closed the door.
With a disgusted expression on his face, he said, "Now what new trouble is this?"
Just then, Robin heard a girl's voice from behind him, "What happened...?"
Robin jumped in surprise and turned around, shouting, "Mom!" 😳
Bulbul was standing behind Robin.
Robin's eyes widened in surprise at the sight of Bulbul, and he asked, "How did you get in?"
Bulbul innocently replied, "Through the door."
Robin glared at Bulbul and said, "But the door is locked, isn't it? I locked it myself from the inside."
Bulbul retorted, "Yes, with that big Godrej lock on your royal door. This old mansion has a broken door. One push and it will fall apart."
Robin turned around and looked at Bulbul, asking, "What are you doing here?"
Bulbul replied, "Oh, Mom sent your lunch. It's kept on the table outside."
Hearing about food, Robin made a strange face and looked at Bulbul, saying, "I don't want to eat any food. I don't know how you people eat. Your food upset my stomach. Now I need to use the restroom, and the restroom here is so dirty. Now tell me, what should I do?"
Bulbul looked at Robin in surprise and then at the bathroom door. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Come with me."
Robin asked, "Where are we going? You're not taking me to your house, are you?"
Bulbul said, "Oh dear, how can I take you to my house? There's a puja pandal set up there, and everyone is present, so I can't take you there. And I can't take you to Dada's house either; if anyone saw you there, it would cause more problems. Besides, there's one more place where you can go and do whatever you need to do."
Robin was annoyed by Bulbul's words, but at that moment, he had no other choice. Gritting his teeth, he told Bulbul, "Hurry up, I can't control myself."
Bulbul quickly nodded and led Robin out of the old mansion. Robin and Bulbul had been walking for the past 10 minutes. Robin angrily said, "Where are you taking me into the jungle? I need to use the restroom, and you're just taking me in circles?"
Bulbul brought Robin to a spot and said, "Yes, okay, you go. I'll be right here."
Robin looked around and asked, "Where should I go? Oh, tell me, where do I need to go from here? I don't see any restroom anywhere nearby?"
Bulbul said, "You don't see this big restroom? Go anywhere, behind any tree."
Hearing Bulbul's words, Robin stared at her with wide eyes and said, "Are you crazy? You brought me here so I could defecate in the open?"
Bulbul blinked her large eyelashes innocently and said, "What else could I do?"
Robin hit his forehead and, looking at Bulbul angrily, said, "Don't follow me."
Saying this, Robin started to move away, but Bulbul followed him, saying, "Hey, listen, I'm telling you, go behind a tree in the jungle, no one will know. If it gets too difficult, you'll be the one in trouble."
But Robin quickly walked out of the jungle and started back on the path to the old mansion. Bulbul tried to stop him, saying, "Hey, listen to me, try to understand."
Robin looked at Bulbul angrily and said, "Even if my stomach bursts from the pain, I will never do that."
Just then, a loud sound came from Robin's stomach, startling both Bulbul and Robin. Robin clutched his stomach tightly and looked around. Bulbul said, "Listen to me, we can still go to the jungle. I'm telling you, no one will know."
But Robin said angrily, "It's enough that I know." Just then, Robin noticed something and said to Bulbul, "What is that building?"
Bulbul looked in the direction Robin was pointing and said, "That's a departmental store."
Robin said, "Okay, my business is done. Now, Miss Bird, don't follow me."
Bulbul innocently asked, "Then where should I go?"
Robin glared at Bulbul and said, "Fly away anywhere."
